What language(s) does T4R.ORG speak?

I am fluent in English... sorta.

Mis abuelos hablan español pero no lo hablo muy bien.

Ho studiato la lingua Italiana per quattro anni.

I don't really wanna learn any others but I'd like to be nearly fluent in the three that I'm not.

What language(s) can you speak? Are there any that you wish to learn?

Would like to learn spanish. Being in Texas this summer made me seem ignorant not knowing it. Yes, I get English is the American language, but I like talking to peeps.

I am a native English speaker, am fluent in Spanish, and have been learning a south American indigenous language called Shuar for the past 18months. Nowhere near fluent on Shuar (looks to be at least a 10year project) but I can hold a conversation. Does´nt do much good as there is probably less than 20 shuar speakers in the US though mostly in Connecticut. But at least Spanish is handy!

Castellano is definitely the nicer sounding of the two. It's interesting the lisp that's added when you get "c+vowel" ("corathon," "hather," etc.).

Why the interest in Shuar?

Latin is very important in understanding English, Italian, Spanish and I'm sure a few others, also most medical terms are in Latin.

You would be amazed how many medical terms are derived from Greek and Latin words. It is a banal language though, no doubt about it.

since i do live in tucson, i do understand quite a bit of spanish, but i dont speak it, nor care to learn more of it.

i know/am fluent in sign language... if that counts.

and i wouldnt mind learning german for the fun of it.

Wasn't saying Latin was totally useless for everyone, just me. I was a classics minor (ancient architecture) so I picked up Latin over the course of 4 years. But in my day to day work, I never use it. But as Brian said, at least I can read what our money says!

I took a semester of Latin in college and (as a mostly math guy) was surprised at how difficult it was to even get a B in the class.

I know Latin is very useful even though the person who learned it might not be directly aware.

If I have kids one day I will make sure they take Latin before middle school since I am convinced that broad knowledge of it will help dramatically with a persons verbal scores and in learning any languages in his/her future.

I took it in undergrad and it's allowed me to be on T4R.org during my science classes and still get decent grades!

As a biology major latin is super handy. Also, specifically in one of my neuroscience courses it is super logical which makes memorization much easier. A lot of neural anatomy is named based on location, shape, or pathways in latin.
