What years to avoid buying?

I had a second gen in high school and college that I absolutly loved. Loved everything except for its lack of power. When I started looking again I was really torn between and the 2nd and 3rd gen, but I knew it had to be stick. For me the early 3rd gens where a lot closer to what the second gens were (interrior wise), but had more power.

I also had a manual 2011 tacoma with the TRD off-road package. Still didn't love it as much as my 4runner.
