The 5th gen is pretty good.

4th gen with a v8 for fun or a SAS swapped gen 1 for different fun. For your level of reliability its hard to beat them 3rds. My dads got a rebuild 2000 that runs smoother, quieter, better mpg and easier to drive than my 5th gen

well up here, it might not be historic tags, if a vehicle is over 20 years old, you can get "Z" tags, which after you get them you dont need to register your rig or get tags anymore.

and regardless of age, no inspections or smog tests up here

It's sucks out here in Colorado. The vehicle has to be manufactured before 1976 or 32 years old. Limitations for collectors or classic tags: Can only be driven max 4500 miles/year plus you'll have to get classic insurance. Emissions are only required every five years Instead of annually.
