What's your 4Runner 4 Life Plan?

What do you plan on doing with your 4Runner for your life?

Example:

For me, my 4Runner is my daily driver. But, my plan is to buy a beater as a daily driver and keep the 4Runner as a weekend car/ cool toy.

So what's your plan?

Mine is going to be my daily driver and is currently being built up to be my light trail and fishing vehicle. Later on I plan to buy a small 14ft fishing boat and towing it with my 4runner.
 
DD until i get my dads jetta, then I'm gonna sell it and buy a 'land rover' (if i don't buy one before that).
 
SAS coliovers & 3 link up front 4 link rear or 63 leafs, duals, 37's or 39's and wheel the hammers every weekend in the cool time of the year. probably d60 and 14 bolt rear full width.

Hopefully it will be a rasin :). Or just sell it and buy an older extended cab yota all ready somewhat built. If I could get one I would like an 84 with the 22r and propane. There are good deals out there for about 5-7G's
 
Daily driver until the day I decide to get an actual DD. When that day comes, I'll probably go a little nuts on this one (long travel).
 
I'm still on the fence about this one. It's either:

1) Get a WRX for a DD and SAS the 4Runner. I've been reading up on the SAS for over a year, but i'm still not sure exactly which direction I want to go with it. Probably Diamonds or FJ80 axles, dual triangulated 4 link rear, 3 link front, 37's, and an internal/external hybrid cage. Pretty much like Scotty's at AOR but with a cage so I could wheel it hard. Any bigger than that and I think I would need a truck and trailer.

or

2) Keep the 97 4Runner as a DD/over-lander and get an older Yota and SAS that with tons. There's a much bigger after market for older Toyota's and I don't think I'd feel as bad beating on an older truck, but I do like the power and comfort of my current runner.

I've been daily driving it for 4 years. Just got a new DD to keep miles off and get better mileage.

It will be nice to have time to fix up a few problems and install a bunch of things that are waiting.

Selling the DD in a couple years or so. By then, Hopefully, I'll be able to afford an IS300 (2JZ-GE, I can turbo it something fierce) or Supra (2JZ-GTE? Almost 300hp Stock? Targa Top? Imperial Jade Mica...? omfg).

This 4Runner is mine forever. Traffic scares me to death, that's the only thing that would take it from me. I'd probably rebuild.
 
I have a company car for a DD so I'm building my 4runner for overland/ fly fishing expeditions rig. I'd like to get a 5th gen 4runner and try to leave it stock(probably won't last long) as my car to drive when I'm not working and hang on to my 3rd gen. I'd really like to have a '99-02 3 series BMW but I rack up speeding tickets and would probably loose my license or something to prevent me from driving my 4runner.
 
Definitely going to keep mine forever.

I plan to add a few mods here and there, but nothing crazy, gotta keep it classy for the place I work and the people I take out. I'm so OCD on maintenance though.

No car payments is a plus :)
 
My plan:

She's my dd and I'll keep her untill I can afford a brand new t4r sport Ed 4wd with all the goodies.... THEN I will push my old t4r off a cliff with the new t4r:gun5:
 
Keeping it until the wheels fall off. Its my DD now, but once I'm done with grad school and the wife is done with nursing school (both next March), I'll probably buy a 5th gen and keep this one as my toy. I definitely don't every plan on selling it, its too nice and I have too much fun working/modding it.
 
My 4Runner IS the vehicle I have always wanted. It looks good, is fun to drive, and has great sound. I use it as my DD and I take good care of it. I'm going to drive it until one of us dies!
 
I plan to keep my Runner as long as it still runs, then probably swap another motor and keep on Runnin! It's not a DD for me, I ride a motorcycle anytime the weather is nice, so it will only get about 4000 miles a year if that. Future plans are to put some 285's, get some Light Racing UCA's, and throw a decent stereo in it. I don't plan to wheel much, probably only a few trips to the beach, so I don't need to build it up too much for off-roading. I also want to get a kayak rack and some kayaks, but that is far off in the future since I've got a little one on the way.
 
Keep is until it starts pissing me off on a regular basis and then sell it. And get a 5th gen or a prius.
 
I plan on chopping it, chroming the sh!t out of it, then getting a tattoo across my forearm that says "4 Runnin' 4 life" in fancy script letters. Then I am going to pick fights with Jeep owners at the mall.

I was also thinking butterfly doors like a lambo, I hear that's pretty cool.

Like a boss.
 
Keep it

and possibly buy a 2nd car like a 5 series BMW or something like that. If it is wrecked or dies i'd consider a 4g or a 100.

It's my DD. Going to set it up 3" slap on some 33's and call it a day. Then im looking at another 4runner, and turning it into a trail rig. Can't have too many 4runners xD
 
Currently my DD but with 180,000 miles approaching I plan on buying another DD in the next 6 months and driving the 4-runner when I feel like it, saving it for the trails and trips. Been looking to pick up another Lexus is300 for a while now. Had an 02' a few years back and loved it. Should have never sold it but school payments became a priority.
 
Mine has been my DD for almost 12 years, but I admit I'm struggling with this. I love my truck, but I'm driving it toward the 200,000 mile mark like it's a black hole, not really knowing what's on the other side. Not having had a car payment in 7 years has been sweet, and he's given me no indication whatsoever that he's ready to quit, but I admit to having a wandering eye toward the 5th gen. Every time I drive through the Toyota dealer I say, "It's okay, we're just looking, we're just looking..." I'll probably have to do something for safety considerations anyway, what with kids to worry about. Not having side impact airbags kinda freaks me out.

Please don't tell my truck I was in this thread... :hiding:
