What's Your Deal Breaker

I paid like $7k for mine a year and a half ago.

It sounds like it's a great deal, as long as there is no structural damage from the accident (bumper only).

I should specify that mine hadn't been overwhelmingly well cared for either and certainly no records. The previous owner had done a "homemade" lift with who-knows-what-struts in the front and some random shocks in the rear mounted upside down to brackets they welded on the frame.

I searched for 4+ years for this exact vehicle (Black or Grey 99' or 00' Limited with E-Locker and ~160k mi or less) and in those 4+ years I saw a number of them come up for $8k and $9k in southern New England/New York/New Jersey/Pennsylvania. Of course now that I bought mine prices have dropped into the $6k range. I can't say for your area, but $5k for a 160k mi 2000 Limited is a good deal, just be sure to check out potential issues for yourself (check coolant for milkshaking/health, check oil, check for rust and cracking along the frame, etc. see the huge 3rd gen buyers guide thread for more info).

Not sure how close you are to ATL but there was a shop called "The Toy Shop" which specializes in Toyotas and they use OEM parts for everything and OEM filters.

Picked mine up from a fellow just north of ATL and they literally had binders of records for this vehicle.

Top notch place.

Looking to add another 4Runner to that list! Local Toyota dealership gave us $5k off of the most recent purchase because of our loyalty to them and Toyota's in general. Have had a bunch of Wrangler's, Mustang's, F150, 250's and a 350 but nothing has surpassed any of the Toyota's reliability.

Thanks for the input guys, it's a good deal for my areas as I mentioned before.. A bunch of 3rd Gen's in the 6-7k range with the "beaters" being in the 3-4k range. Looking forward to checking this truck out, I've been reading and re-reading the 3rd Gen Buyers Guide to make sure I check out any of the problem areas specific to these trucks.. Plus everything else.

Here's the records from 2012 at a dealership in WV..

Had basic maintenance done, windshield wipers done ect... But had an axle leak (right rear axle) and the air to fuel ratio sensor 1 was changed. Nothing mentioned about the fender bender but I'm assuming this is a 3 or 4 owner vehicle.

I couldn't agree with you more. This is my 3rd 3rd gen that accompanies a long list of Toyota/Lexus vehicles I've owned over the years.

I may even end up selling my current 4R because I maybe commuting further and will need something better on fuel. we'll see.

Thank You! Our biggest concern is that due to the rear end damage that the back axle could be partially out of align or faulty.. Due to the axle being replaced so early was the old man's big concern. What do y'all think?

Personally I think he's just finding an excuse to NOT go check this truck out with me, the axle's haven't been replaced/recorded since 2004 but I'd like some unbiased opinions..

EDIT**** The Right rear axle seal had to be replaced in 2012 at ~96k miles.

I'd like to bump this up and get a couple extra opinions?

Rear end damage with both rear axle seals needing to be replaced & oil replaced afterwards (at different times)

That just a coincidence or is there an underlying factor?
