What's your favorite thing about your 4Runner?

Best things about my runner..
1. I can lay the seats down and sleep in the back!
2. Its one clutch machine, its never let me down.
3. Its a ladies magnet.
4. the roof rack is nice especially for camping, hunting, traveling.
5. Its rugged, it looks tough but doesn't stick out in the city.
6. Obviously the roll down window.
* I could keep going but the list is practically endless
Its the only vehicle I ever wanted growing up, I told my parents i would walk to school before I would drive a jeep.

That people come up to me and ask me how old my 4runner is, and are shocked to learn it is going on fourteen years. Then some ask if I want to sell it. Even when I say no, they still spout out a number.

Like what a lot of people have said, some of my favorites include:
- rear window
- great looks
- built/feels like a truck
- availability of aftermarket goodies and relative ease of installing them


But my absolute #1 favorite will surprise some of you. I LOVE the feel and sound of the 3.4 built for torque, not speed. I used to be a speed demon, but since buying my runner I usually drive like an old man in his work truck (unless I'm late).

I've got to say my truck is a very good vehicle for my work as a Carpenter. I can carry a load of tools and supplies, pull my work trailer, carry lumber and plywood on the roof, fit a 6' ladder in the back and still close the lift gate, and the tinted rear windows make it difficult to see what I have it. I am putting things in and out of it everyday. I have a Viper alarm system and window stickers and no one has ever messed with it. It sure looks a lot better than the old beat up pickups I see most "Carpenters" driving. I am very good at what I do and drive a nice truck.

But to be honest, the runner feels like me, I have had 4 other cars and trucks and I finally feel at home with this ride

I like everything that has been mentioned, and Ill add a few more.

- Interchangeable parts. My 4runner has front suspension from a Tundra, and rear suspension from a Landcruiser (as many of you guys do as well), and it makes for a great ride and lift.

- Its a flippin clidesdale! Im in the process of starting a log and rustic furniture business, and Ive spent the last two weeks hauling logs back and forth, (upwards of 800lbs in the back) and the lc coils have been absolutely amazing. The 4runner is in its natural habitat as a workhorse.

- Toyota engineering = amazing quality and reliability

- Its simple. Interiorior is basic but functional. We dont have a ton of bells and whistles, especially on our 96-98 models. But simple means there are less things to break. KISS

- As mentioned its so versitile. I can pack up my camping and recreation gear, hook up my trailer with motorcycle or motocross bike, take it up into the mountains, put 7 friends in it (two laying in the back), strap some gear to the rack, haul a 1000lbs of logs in the back, drive it 2 miles to grocery store or 1000 miles accross country back to WY. And after all that I can clean it up and get complements for having a 14 year old vehicle that looks cleaner and sharper than many brand new vehicles

That it has 341k on it and looks better than most of the sub 200k rigs I see around town!
The roll down rear window is definitely cool.
The fact that's it a Toyota! This is my first Toyota but I have always wanted a Toyota Truck/SUV since my uncle put almost 300k on his 85 Pickup before selling it in 1998.

It's paid for and the tags are less than $70 a year.
OK, kidding aside, I do enjoy driving this truck. The A/C is the coldest we've ever had in any vehicle. The kids love that the rear windows go all the way down.

rear window and how fast the cab heats up, where I live i see temps as low as -30deg C, and by the time I pull out of the garage and close the door, the cabs already warmed up..
