Wheel spacer option

Was researching spacers for the Runner, wanted to go with a manufacturer I know and trust.., Ithiba but no application for the 4Runner was listed on their site. Ended up ordering from Stahl, they should arrive later today.
Recently Ithiba sent me an email noting they aren't listed on their site, but they do have them available. Installed Ithiba spacers on my X-RS about 10 years ago to fine tune track width and handling. This car is exposed to extreme lateral forces, also have been up over 130 mph with no issue or vibration. Very happy with their product. They are billet aluminum, hub centric bare aluminum ( no coating ), mine came with grade 5 conical lug nuts. I painted the outer edge with POR15 to match the hubs.
Ithiba says they are available through them if you call.

Do these serve a functional purpose? (serious question, I know nothing.)

its functional if you are running the wrong offset rims and need additional clearance, or if you upgraded your UCA/LCA and tires, and things are rubbing where it shouldn't be. It also extends the track alittle bit, and in theory, gives a wider stance, but I don't know if there is any measurable gains.

For most people, its all about looks. I have run them on my 350z, to my tundra, and now my 4runner. I don't have any issues other than it tends to make the steering a bit numb.

The purpose of the spacers on the X-RS was to fine tune handling. Weight center, track width, loading of weight and slip angle of a particular wheel in high speed sweepers and relatively lower speed sharp turns. Basically to fine tune directional change for better predictably and grip.
On the 4Runner it is more for looks. I'm running 275/55-20's on stock Limited rims and 19mm spacers. Just installed spacers last night, haven't driven it yet.
They should change the on road feel though a bit.

I put 1.25" BORA spacers on mine for a few reasons that really have little to do with performance. First, I have the SEMA Pro wheels, second, I put 265 70 R17 OWL Duratracs on them and lastly I have no lift, but C4 Fab sliders installed. In this combination the look of the wheel tire combination without the spacers would have looked odd to me and I like to fill out the wheel wells but not replace the Pro wheels, cuz I really like them. I can eventually move to a lift and new wheel combo, but for now I didn't mind the cost of the spacers. Since I was going for it, I went for the full 1.25" rather than buy the smaller offset ones and regret not going all the way. I think its just right now.

I did modify the front mud flaps and they still rubbed a little during articulation of the front suspension which bugged me so I pulled them off. No regrets, they really don't do much now with the tires pushed outward.

This setup is for my newbie off roading trials. I want to see exactly what I can accomplish off road with the vehicle like this before I spend money on the lift and wheels. I am pretty confident I can get to the places I want like this, and for extra peace of mind I have the RCI skids coming but they wont be here in time to be installed before our trip to Colorado.

Did about 16 freeway miles, no vibration . Had it up to 75-80.
These are Bora 3/4" spacers & 275/55-20 tires, happy with the results..

Did you have to cut the studs shorter or did they fit inside the machining of the OEM wheels? I don't recall seeing anyone run a 3/4 spacer before.

If Toyota did a better job at the placement of the tires under their cars then we would never have to think about spacers. Look at nearly all their cars from the rear, the tire/wheels are always well inside the wheel well then start looking at other brands the tire is (for the most part) aligned with the body. I think the worst look is the 4R Limited, from the rear the tires look pizza cutter 2 inch in the the outside of the fender. Stupid, IMO!

I had a set of spacers on my 2006 4R SR5, then on my 2016 TE with standard wheels but once I got the TRDP wheels I took them off because the look was adequate.

Studs

If I would have had to cut the studs on the hub, I would have returned the spacers. Factory studs fit inside cutouts on the stock rims. Used green sleeve-lock on studs to mount the spacers. It's a high strength green lock tight.
Have used it for years, works excellent.

I was considering a small spacer, but I don't want much. I don't like spacers. But it may be an easy fix in this case.

Yep, 3/4" should work. These are Bora spacers, order what you need and they'll have to fabricate and anodize. Mine took two weeks until delivered. Good quality product, you'll be at about $200.00 shipped.
