Not sure I'm following....
TC's site says it reuses the factory (OEM) CVs on their +2" shafts (and their +3.5"). Since CVs are what break anyway, I don't understand TC's philosophy of upgrading the shaft and not upgrading the CV as well. It's the proverbial turd polish at that point.
Not turd polish, maybe not the absolute best thing available, but 4340 and 300m are about the most common materials to make
Shafts from. Just because they're not upgrading the joints themselves, it's no weaker than factory.
I'd much rather buy the custom part (extended shafts) once and rebuild/replace the stock parts once in a while.
Aftermarket (not autozone junk) nice cv joints are pricy parts.

Guess it all depends on one's definition of polishing a turd.
To me, it's like guys that spend big money on chromoly shafts (300M or 4340) on a Dana 44 or Toyota 8" when they are running tires so big they should have just bought a 60.
You're correct....it's no weaker than factory....but my point was simply that you haven't upgrade the weakest link in the failure chain, so while the shafts aren't going to fail, they likely wouldn't have failed before the CVs in the first place.
I guess to further my point....if TC really wants to strengthen the overall system, then have someone like RCV engineer a set of CVs to offer up for sale as well.....then you're actually improving the strength....especially since most folks looking for such a system, are going to be running a larger than stock tire.

I hear ya. I think the price point would drive a lot of people away though. We've done that route before, and wind up with a pair of $2,000 axles. Beefy, absolutely... just pricy
