Wheel Weights

Does anyone know if you can use your existing wheel weights on a new set of wheels? I have a 2004 4Runner and will be getting the 18" limited wheels put on and was making sure I could use the same wheel weights I already have on there.

I would suggest getting weights that adhere to the inside of the wheel rim as opposed to the outside lip for better asthetics. See pic below (not a T4R, but a Dodge Challenger), but serves its purpose as an example. If you get the rims mounted and balanced at a shop, you should get them at no cost.

The answer is no, but the question is why in the world would you want to?

When you get the new ones mounted, they will balance them as well. They don't charge you for the weights. If they are, you are getting :frisky:

You theoretically could use the old weights, but it would serve no purpose. When you balance the new wheel/tire assemblies you will get different measurements, so your old weights will more than likely be the wrong weight required to balance the tires out.

They shouldn't charge you for the weights if you're getting tire installed.

Thank you everyone for your input, I had no idea..last time I bought rims was back in the low rider days! I will definitely have them mounted on the inside,

As Ryhops124 suggested, having the weights placed on the inner surface of the rim will make your rims look cleaner.

I also have the weights on the inside of my rims because I have found from past experience that when they are placed on the outside they can sometimes scratch or damage the finish on the rim. This then leads to the finish either peeling or becoming corroded (especially up here where they use road salt in the winter).
