Wheels, Tires, Lift for '04 Limited

I'm sure this question has been asked and answered a thousand times...looking for a cheap set of wheels to put on the wife's '04 T4R for camping trips, I plan on leaving her road tires on for most of the year and only swapping these on for the twice a year trip to the mountains.

Currently have the Bilstein 5100 ride adjustable struts in the front in the second position to level the truck, N/A 5100 in the rear.

My thoughts on a tire is the Cooper AT3 for it's puncture resistance, I go into the sierras and the trails up there are just covered with good sized sharp rocks and my main fear is punctures.

265/70/17 for this ride leveled setup? Bigger with a small spacer in the rear and adjust the struts higher? I don't do any boulder crawling or stuff where a big tire is necessary.

For wheels I would prefer to have aluminum for the weight, but if the $ savings is significant I will stick to steel. Better deal to look for take-off wheels in the classifieds?

What exactly is the lug pattern and necessary offset?

thanks. :)

6 lug pattern are 5.5 inch or 139.7mm
265/70R17 are perfect for your truck with it leveled in front.
As for wheels, look in craigslist for fj cruser wheels. They have a 15mm offset rather than 30mm offset with stock 4runner wheels.

Anyone else with better experience in this can chime in.

Any other suggestions on a wheel, those seem to be in pretty high demand and hard to find as there's wanted ads posted every day on craigslist for them.

For the tire, after reading a few forum posts, it looks like the Goodyear Dura Trac is a good choice in 265/70R17

I have and love my C rated duratracs. If these aren't your DD tires I'd go with an E rated tire for better puncture resistance.

Pretty sure that's the same lug pattern as 99-07 Chevy Silverados to give you more to look at for used wheels

damn i wish i was posting on this site before i got this 4runner cause i would have gotten springs to do at the same time for shocks instead of lift spacers...i didnt realize the rears would sag slightly to the drivers side with stock springs.

seems like if i add like 1/2 to the drivers side spacer itll be perfect so if thats the route op is taking i would recommend half inch size taller for drivers side spacer.

also for the tires i just got nitto terra grapplers...not trail grapplers...in 265/70/19 and they rub at full lock with 1.25" wheel spacers. so im assuming the same thing would happen with less offset wheels. but nothing a little trimming wont take care of.

The Cooper AT3 is a fantastic tire. Probably the best AT tire on the market right now. But puncture resistance is not a characteristic I've ever heard associated with it. I'd say it's pretty much on par with other AT tires in the class.

I do know that the Duratrac's downfall is the sidewall strength. Just google "Duratrac sidewall" and your screen will blow up with pics of flats on the trail.

Mine actually sits pretty damn level front/back and side/side with the setup I have of the 5100's at 1.75"

I just didn't know if the 265/70 would fit without going bigger.

I've read that the guys who work up on the logging roads in the northwest are switching to that tire enforce because of it's puncture resistance.

Damn. :(

Anything else in the $175-$225 range you would recommend?

Well if you want a rugged tire with excellent traction in all conditions that's isn't annoyingly loud on the road, the Cooper Discoverer ST Maxx sounds like the tire for you.
