Trimming so tires fit

I just purchased this 2013 a couple of weeks ago. I wanted some new wheels and tires. I listened to someone on Facebook about trimming some of the plastic away underneath, inside the fenders because after getting new tires and wheels, I had a lot of rubbing when the wheels were turned all the way to either right or left. I started trimming. I cut maybe a 8 inch by 12 inch section out and it's still rubbing slightly. But what's worse is that the hole where the plastic used to be is noticeable, and I've already had some mud get thrown up in there when I went to test out the four wheel drive. And I'm worried some cat or another critter will climb up inside and go for a ride at some point.
I should've just told Discount Tire that they shouldn't have sold me wheels that wouldn't work, and demanded they exchange them for ones that wouldn't rub. I'm getting new Bilstein shocks put on (6112 front 5100 rear) and then an alignment after. I'm told by various sources that the lift won't make them stop rubbing, but I've also heard that the alignment might because they can adjust the camber enough to clear them. That's what I'm hoping or more trimming is in order. Your thoughts are welcome.

pics would be super helpful to know what your cutting and where...

I had a to do a lot of cutting with my setup but the thing that helped the most was what you were stating on alignment.

With aftermarket UCA (upper control arms) and maxing out your LCA (lower control arms) to be as far forward as possible - this in return would "cheat" the wheel forward away from the frame & body or in the direction "more favorable for cutting" (i.e. your cutting more plastic than frame, pinch welds, etc).

I had a to do a lot of cutting with my setup but the thing that helped the most was what you were stating on alignment.

With aftermarket UCA (upper control arms) and maxing out your LCA (lower control arms) to be as far forward as possible - this in return would "cheat" the wheel forward away from the frame & body or in the direction "more favorable for cutting" (i.e. your cutting more plastic than frame, pinch welds, etc). Pending wheel size and tire sizing you might be able to find the "sweet spot" where it requires no cutting.

I don't know how to post pics here. It's asking for links to the pics and I'm not storing any in the cloud etc. However, it's inside both fenders in front of the tires. They rub on the inside front of the tire when I turn either right or left. I just got some new shocks and struts and then an alignment and most of the rubbing is gone. I can't hear it anymore, but the alignment shop said there's still a tiny bit left. Anyway, unless I start hearing it again, I guess I won't have to cut out any more plastic.
