Where does this connect to ?

So before the -30c days arrive I thought I would try to figure out why the rear heater doesn't blow hot. See the picture, where does the cable on the heat lever connect to ? Cannot locate it under the dash ? Have not ripped things apart too much just yet, where should i be looking ?Also the pipes under the vehicle seem new aluminium ones, no corrosion anywhere, thinking and hoping it,s a broken cable connection !

Just a(n educated) guess, but I would think it would connect to a damper control lever mounted on the rear heater blower/heat box under the passenger seat.

I'm pretty sure you're right. I think the rear heat is controlled by a flap that allows air to flow through the radiator under the seat, instead of a valve like the front heat uses.

OP, the first thing I would do is unbolt the passenger side seat and get a look at the blower housing. I think you'll find that cable goes to a flap on that.

That controls the coolant flow for the rear heater because you can still have the rear fan on without any heat.

A few times over the summer I will move the control to hot without the fan on so the coolant in the coil flows rather than let it sit in there all summer.

Thank you, I did remove the seat and found the cable connected to the flap on the blower under the front seat. It moved very easily, I thought it had snapped off somewhere. I think I have a blockage, air lock or crud in the pipes feeding the rear heater, they don't get hot at all from the front heat pipes. I think I will unhook them and blast the hosepipe thru them tmrw.

Did it ever work? Many people will by-pass the rear heater core at the firewall if they have coolant leaks in the rear system.

Not done anything yet and there isn't a leak in the system.The pipes must be just blocked.I'd like to get it working as the front heat is just not enough when it's -20c and below.
