China freight has their 12k winch on sale for $289. I swear most of these winches come from the same factory in china.

I ordered one from Apex Overland, free shipping!

lots of places say free shipping..then you look into it and it will say things like....this item does not qualify for free shipping to Alaska or Hawaii..
Im even an Amazon Prime member and with them too you put some things in your cart and it will come back...cant ship to alaska
HOWEVER today I ordered my winch from amazon...only $4 more than other sites ....got the typical email....thanks for your order....now IM waiting for the email that says.....this item does not ship to alaska

Oh man, that stinks. At least you get to see the most bad ass "overlanding" and camping scenes in the country. What winch did you order?

thanks but dont flame me....many say they are junk...many say good....so had to go with my wallet.
smitty built 10,000 lb synthetic line....x2o competition.
5 year electrical and lifetime mechanical warranty

ive read some people like the harbor freight ones....but no harbor freight in alaska and dont know if I can trust those

so far no notices from amazon saying cant ship :)

and yes lots of neat places to explore, really could have used a winch last year...got stuck bad...luckily a popular place and after a few hours someone came along that would pull me out....pulled out by a taco :)
stupid me....did not have my come along in the time, it was at my building project...did not have a hijack at the time ( do now) and did not have traction boards...do now

after amazon confirms they will ship . gonna get a land anchor I think...drive some places where there are no trees to tag on to

Very cool. I ordered the Gen3 9.5k Smittybilt synthetic winch, hopefully we both don't get a fluke.

thanks...we will see how it goes.
Looks like you and I are at near total opposite sides of the USA. Your a few hundred miles from Key West....the southern point of eastern US...and IM out west a few hundred from Deadhorse....the upper most dead end for roads in the US.

Yeah, no kidding! My good friend down here in Tampa is planning to run to Alaska in 2021. If I have the time (and money) I'll try to go with him.

woohoo...got an email from amazon...winch on the way...thankfully the weight was not an issue for them like so many other suppliers in the lower 48 that say " free shipping"...then say....well not to you.
supposed to be here monday....but tons of other projects running right now..might not get to the install for a week or more
but its its in route....yahoo

arrived today....yahoo
and some more shackles and other stuff
surprised how fast it came from amazon when everything else has been taking weeks

I run a Smittybilt X2O 12k pro comp I picked up from my local 4Wheel Parts. Used it a few times, been submerged a few times. No issues with it.
