Where to get vacuum

I had my vsv’s hooked up to a port on top of the TB but know i could get 4hi to engage so i started looking a round and turns out it was because of lack of vacuum so i moved the line to a front port beside the water hose inlet and walla but the port looks dirty so im asking where to get a good vacuum source, i dont want to mess the lil filters

How about where it's supposed to go, right on the front of the intake manifold? And what little filter are you talking about?

I havent found a decent diagram for it, and the filters im talking about are the ones on the vsv's

Older 3rd gens run the vacuum line off the back of the intake manifold, tee'd off the line that goes up to the metal line shown empty on the top the manifold in this pic (ignore arrows, borrowed pic):

Make sure there is a check valve between the vacuum source and the vacuum canister and VSVs...

first, what year, my 2000 has a check valve in the system, its not a filter if that is what you are referring to. The check valve can go bad, mine did, and replacing it fixed my 4wd
