where to mount aftermarket tranny cooler?

Hi Guys,

Im looking at a Hayden 679 tranny cooler ~11x11 and wondering where to mount it.

I see a number of threads but none of them seem to have the ac condenser still on the car.

i think you may be mistaken about the AC condenser NOT being on the car as I'm fairly certain any write up or picture of a mounted trans cooler definitely shows the AC condenser.. at least all the ones I've come across


You can either make some elaborate way to use the included metal ties...( don't know if the one you're buying includes them but a B&M trans cooler does._.)

or

you can poke the included zip ties through the AC condenser and call it a day..

you may want to revisit some write up threads or go right to BIGFISHALLDAY's thread as he has a write up that a lot of people reference.

go to that section, look under the transmission section, tons of write ups and info
for me , I bypassed the radiator and mounted mine on driver side of radiator in front of ac condenser
ran all new hoses to tranny hard pipes U under ac compressor, a bit of a pain
and ran a loop between the radiator tranny ports, so if it does develop a leak, it wont leak out of radiator ( coolant)
my radiator is 15 years old, no documentation of it ever being replaced and I have all records since new (from dealer and original owner) so Im gonna replace it one of these days, not sure if Ill hook back up the tranny cooler lines to it

the advantage of a B&M cooler (that I used) according to their information and other things I have read, is it has an internal plate that allows it to bypass the lower cooling fins until the fluid heats up

OK so the B&M is a better idea, it seems the Hayden is slightly smaller profile (width) and has slightly better cooling properties (+30 dollars cheaper)

So you got proper flow to the radiator with that setup. My radiator is probably old as well why I am considering this. I do not see myself replacing the hard lines so it will be straight forward, thanks for your help.
