Which Brand Alternator?

2007 4-Runner needs a new alternator. It's got 198,900 miles on her and I plan on keeping her for another 100,000 at least.

I'm assuming an OEM alternator will be big bucks! But, would most likely last another 200,000 if the truck lasts that long, which it very well may.

Question is:

Is there a decent brand that I can use that would cost less but still be a decent option?

Any brands that are much better then the OEM but cost the same?

Looking for general suggestions!

Thank you in advance.

Went through this last year. Denso alternators from the dealer are all reman but I trust them enough to pay $225ish for it over the rock auto/auto parts version. Not a part change I want to do repeatedly with 'lifetime' parts. buy once, cry once

you can get a high output alternator too. or had your old one rebuild.
do you have a big electrical load coming up?
mechman 240a works for most application, stock alternator is 130 amps i think.

I bought mine from AutoZone. So far, I don't have any problem. The logic with this why I need to get it from local store is to avoid costly shipping in case I have to return or exchange it within the warranty period.

The alternator is the one that I can't wait to repair.

i replaced mine a few months ago with a cheapo pure energy alternator from rock auto. so far so good.

Thats a 3rd gen alt.
They sell a V8 4th gen, but no V6...that i can see.

I went to two different local shops that specialize in electrical.
Both said they did not rebuild these alternators because of some internals being welded together? ...they could replace it though.

Oops thought I was in the 3rd gen section. But looks like that's true, the rectifier and regulator are part of the coil on this one. Diagrams:
My 2nd gen - Alternator for Toyota 4Runner VZN130L - Auto parts

This one - Alternator for Toyota 4Runner GRN215L - Genuine parts

That sucks.
