Which headlight bulbs?

yeah i run the PIAAs i have run both the extreme white and the intense white, i prefer the intense white at 4100k vs 4000k, its a little bit brighter an cleaner light, but the extreme white(4000k) will last much longer. we have had a set of those in my wifes car for about two years now and they are still super bright. we put them in after the philips burnt out.

imo PIAA is 10x better than anything else out there except for maybe IPF no body can touch their quality and durability nor their light out put

For both the 4100k and 4000k, can i just put the bulbs right in my headlights? My dad was saying they might melt the plastic on the headlight cover or something haha. If not, I'm buying those tonight!

Asking which bulbs for head light is like asking what kind of condom to use.

What works for someone else might not work for you. You're just going to have to experiment with different ones. Run one for a little while, and if you don't like it, get different ones.

I have these that I've had since January. PIAA 10904 H4 Intense White - H4 60/55W=135/125W Xtra Intense White Bulb,Twin Pack : Amazon.com : Automotive I've had Silverstars before they never lasted me that long and in my opinion, the PIAA's have cleaner output compared to the Silverstars

Just installed these last night on my truck as well as disconnecting the DRL. First test last night proved that they were a nice bright bulb. I have been running Hella's for a while but they have a very short lifespan. I tried Silverstars but like many others they just weren't bright enough. Its all a matter of personal taste and trial/error. No plug in bulb will really be bright enough when compared to running a set of HID lights. Disconnect the DRL and extend your bulb life! :guitar3:

ok so your are going to have to run a H4 bulb, dont buy an H7, it will NOT work.

PIAA makes a intense white h4 here, PIAA Corporation USA - H4 Intense White Bulbs thats a link from PIAAs web sight. i generally buy all my bulbs from Ebay but it takes a while some times 6months to find a really good deal, but i have picked up a set of brand new bulbs for around $10 before

DRLs are a proven active safety feature. It's not co-incidence that all new cars come with them

The way I understand it, you guys want to be either blindingly bright or invisible, correct? or do you just want brighter bulbs so you can see through your headlight blackouts?

Ha, a difference of opinion is trolling? It's your truck do what you want with it. It's not my family riding in it. Just my 2 cents is all--Maybe I'm just preconditioned on the importance of visibility from my experience with bikes and motorcycles where the stakes are a lot higher if people don't see you.

I'm new here, you've appear to have been here for some time. Who knows maybe you'll have the information I need when something goes wrong with my truck some day. Not trying to make waves or create arguments, but I have experience and knowledge to share too and I'm just putting it out there. Use it if you like. File it under troll if you like. It's not going to affect me either way.

DRL's run the bulb at 1/2 wattage, which drastically reduces their lifespan. I'd sooner turn on my lights manually and run the bulbs at full power, DRL's are just another example of the nanny-state taking over, along with TPMS, Onstar monitoring your actions, etc. You can't nerf the world and still be free.

There are two sides to every argument in this world. Take a look at the link above. I do not stand on either side of the DRL vs. non DRL argument, I just don't want my lights on all the time. I do not have headlight blackouts, and come to think of it, I really don't think anyone here blacks out their headlights. I spend alot of time up in places where streetlights don't exist and deer, foxes, etc... think the road is a cool place to congregate. For my own safety I put brighter bulbs to protect myself, my family, etc... If this were a matter of being blindingly bright it would be an HID topic (sorry HID guys :lmao

i know your not a troll but that comment about being able to see out my blacked out headlights is a troll thing to say... if you look around here not many of use have blacked out headlights. DRL are known to shorten the life of a bulb, thats a fact. i run PIAAs because i like to see at night, i also have a set of PIAA 940s that i have wired so the driving light is my DRL... i dont care if one of those bulbs burns out "early", as i will still have my headlights. brighter cleaner light is a very valuable driving aid especially at night. all the lights i have on my vehicle are DOT compliant and i have never been flashed by someone telling me my lights are "too bright". now some of the lights i am running like my IPF 800s are just way too bright to run on the street even though they technically are legal to run if i wanted to. people on here have been doing the DRL delete mod for some time, and i have yet to see one of them get into an accident because of it or because someone could not see them. i understand that they are there for a reason, but to say they are needed is kind of well stupid and naive. there are many more vehicles on the road that do not have DRL than do... i think the bigger issue is people not paying attention when driving...

On both my JDM imports I've had to wire in DRL's to pass safety, and I've wired them so the amber clearance lights under the headlights act as my DRL's, which I much prefer to using the headlights for this purpose. I agree DRL's have their place, no question, but not at the expense of my primary source of lighting when it's dark. I had more burnt bulbs in the wife's Legacy when I had the DRL's enabled (6 months) than in 3 years since I disabled them, which to me is more unsafe than not having DRL's during the day.

You're right about the black out. I take that back.

Not saying they are "needed" tires are needed. Gas is needed. DRLS are just something extra that might help out.

I don't run DRLs either technically- I just turn the headlights on when I drive off. In fact, I might just wire it to the ignition like it used to be on one of my SAABs. DRLs have been mandatory here in Canada for much longer (since '90 I think) so there aren't many cars left without them!

Anyhow, I've said my piece so I'll leave it at that. Stupid and naive was when I went on a very rutted trail last week without skids and now instead of arguing here I should be finding where I busted my rad!
