So im looking at getting myself into a newer 4runner. Ive found 2 i really like, they are pretty identical, they are both 2008 4WD V6 Sports. but ones black and ones white. i know black shows scratches more than white would. i will still be wheeling so im leaning towards the white right now. i know white will show dirt, but im not too worried about that. what would you guys recommend, white or black?

Having had most of the common colors of vehicles. I like white and silver they stay the "cleanest" and to me look the best. That said black is sexy when it's clean...... Id probably go white.

yep, thats what i was thinking. i love black because its slick, but i know itll get scratched up from the trails.

I've had a black 04 and currently have a silver 04

I much prefer the silver as far as scratches and dirt go. The black one would need to be buffed out to not show scratches and it seemed like it was a dent magnet.

I have pretty much sworn off black cars at this point. They look great on the lot but its a lot of work to keep them that way.

Go white.. I have 2 black vehicles and my runner is white and I wash the other 2 twice as many times easy.. They get dirty just sitting in the garage lol...

Unless you are good at polishing/waxing/claybar, stick with white. No heat issue in OR but here in Colorado, white stays much much cooler too. I think it is easier to keep clean though I like black as a color.

I sometimes wish I had purchased black. But i'm happy with white.

I would go white. Of course, part of my reasoning is it will not get as hot in the summer time, down here in Texas. Also, easier to keep the paint looking good. EVERYTHING shows up on black (read: SWIRLS).

If you're worried about scratches get the white, however after owning white, I'll never own one again, such a pain to keep clean

after having white, and loving the white, i'd go black. toyota white is hard to keep shiny. my brother is the proud owner of a now matte white tundra as it's too big to go inside. mine is garaged and polished/waxed every 6 months. still a pain to keep shiny. talked to a guy who details for a living, he wrote toyota to complain about how bad their white breaks down, he claims toyota responded stating that it was a known issue with their paint. mid-90's through early 2000's toyota reds were about as bad, only they turned pink...

soap box is open... sorry.

This. I have two black trucks now, and both are great looking when clean but they don't stay clean :(. I like a dark silver or grey the best, but I'd take white over black for sure.

If you don't mind the work, there's nothing like a high gloss mirror shine on a black 4runner... :thumb3:
