Is there a list that shows which ones fit with and without triming...also which ones has what features i.e. this head unit needs nothing and this one need a bunch of cables?....All I really want is a OEM looking radio that will play from USB, display track info and at least have RCA's.

Face plate numbers T1814 OR T1815 will work. They will both use the orig. brackets but will need to trim the plastic beside the radio. Also, both can be modded to add a USB port.

Looks great. I have a 2001 4runner. Will this radio just plug and play? Any mods that have to be done to install it?

yes. i'll try to make this short. remove OE radio and the amp under it. the connectors from the amp go into the scion HU.
1)the mount brackets from the OE radio get reused. about a 1/16 of an inch needs to get trimmed/ground off to fit the scion HU. you will see what to do.
2) the scion's faceplate is wider. there are 2 small rectangular areas on it that need to be removed so it fits in the dash. they hit the holes where the trim panel clips secure it to. you don't want to cut that area out of the dash! trim the faceplate. easy and doesn't harm it, just be careful.
3) trim opening in the trim panel. OE radio face is 7 inches wide, scion is 7 7/8. measure, cut a little, check, cut a little more, check, etc. i rough cut mine with a cutoff wheel, then finished with a round file for the corners, and a rough cut file to get my final size. took me a couple hours to get everything done.
Let me resurrect this old thread. I just purchased the same HU as above and am wondering if I can add a USB to it somehow. What adapter/harness would I need to buy? No big deal if I can't, but it would be a nice option to have.

Huh, wasn't aware this was an option. Good to know there are still routes we can take to replace our headunits even though the Scion units are a bit ugly. Still it's far, FAR better than installing a low-end tablet and using CarPlay. You couldn't catch me dead with one of those :moon:

Got the new (used) head unit installed Saturday morning. Install was pretty straight forward and required a small amount of trimming. I also had to pull the faceplate off the radio in order to get the top 2 mounting screws in. It sounds good and I'm glad to have music again!
