Which UCAs?

I ordered a lift kit with Sonoran Steel and I need to order UCAs to go with it. I tried chasing down some Camburg UCAs as those were recommended by Sonoran and they have a ball joint instead of uniball.

I was advised by someone who has a lot of mechanical knowledge to try to get a ball joint uca instead of a uniball because ball joint has a little more longevity.

For those with Total Chaos or other uniball designs, have you had your uniball setup wear out somewhat frequently (within a year or less)?

It's looking like if I want ball joint the only other real option is SPC? My understanding is they're pretty good too.

Just trying to make up my mind whether I want to go Total Chaos or SPC really (ball joint vs uniball I think is my main concern).

Thanks, I think I skimmed through about 3 of those links and still don't see the answer to my question about member's experience with their uniball setups and how quickly they're wearing out. I know they wear out more quickly I'm just curious how fast people are going through the uniball. I did see mention of a cracking issue with SPC, I'd be interested to hear more SPC users experiences. You can get the new style SPC UCA's that have the grease-able ball joint (same as a 1/2 ton chevy) for $390 shipped. Im pretty happy with them. I was able to get 4+ caster after installing them.

There is a metric ton of information on ball joint vs uniball out there, not only here but on many other forums. One person's opinion on here is not what you should be looking for if you want to see how they are holding up. Five guys posting how their's did or did not hold up depends on a lot of factors... how they use their truck, where they drive it, where they live, what the truck is exposed to, how often things get lubricated, etc, etc.

I can also tell you my uniballs had to be serviced after 18 months... because I wheel it, I live in the north where they salt roads, and I failed to lubricate regularly. Each situation will be different.

I'm curious to know more member's experiences with their custom UCAs before I go making a decision on mine. Not interested in what people _think_ i should buy so much as wanting to hear people's experiences with what they've been running. If you've run a ball joint uca, great, tell me about it, if you've run a uniball setup, great, tell me about it.

why don't you just ask your friend who has so much mechanical knowledge. I haven't seen a single person here with "custom" UCA.

There's a LOT of experience posted on here. Read through the builds.

Overall, a lot of people have had positive results with the TC UCA's. In my book, I would strongly consider those a top choice. Not only because of reviews here, but because the guys I know with upfitted Tacos swear by them.

Or you can use the search tool just to the upper right. There's really a ton of info already on threads about SPC and TC UCA's though.

Sorry I should say "aftermarket" UCA, not custom (though technically custom might still fit since they are made to order parts for individuals but, we're really just splitting hairs at that point).

And I did ask the person. He's already given me his opinion, I'm seeking other's experiences before I make a final decision.

No, not lazy. I did my research. I may not spend months reading every possible thread available that has the mention of UCA (maybe that makes me lazy to you but, I can only research so much for so long before needing to ask a question to make progress in my decisions) but, I had read enough of them to gather the impression that people generally know how the UCAs are constructed.
My specificity was in seeking people's experiences now that they've been running them for a while. If you ask me, a lot of you are just quick to jump on the bandwagon of calling someone lazy without actually looking at the details of their question closely.
And ultimately, if you and the rest of whoever else don't feel like answering because it's been answered a million times before, why not just leave the thread and not say anything? Have some feeling of authority? If nobody ever answers my questions, I'll get the hint. No need to come be forum police.
