Whine in rear diff, ARB locker

So lately I have noticed a bit of a whine when under load in my runner. Its mostly noticeable at 35 mph or above and is loudest at 65mph.

I recently found a receipt for the previous owner getting this noise checked out ( I just purchased this rig) and the shop did a complete check out at no cheap cost and found no issues, after talking to the previous owner and a few more people I heard that this whining noise is pretty common with the ARB rear locker.

Can anyone confirm this for my peace of mind? I would rather know that its just a noisey locker than my tranny or diff going out.

Thanks.

I don't know how an air locker could be the cause of a whine in the rear end. I would bet your having bearing issues or an issue with the ring and pinion. Grab the rear yolk and try to see if there is any play in the pinion bearing. That's really about all you can check without pulling the diff.

Your ARB is also the carrier, I'd say your gears are set too far on the coast side or it's a bearing. Are they brand new gears? They usually whine during break in period, prob took me a good 500+ miles on them til the whine went away in mine. ARB w/ Yukon 5.13's.

to add a bit to the above,
some gear sets just make noise, and there is nothing that can be done about it.

you would have to determine if its a gear, or bearing noise though, and that could be difficult.
although, if its been a while(months/years) its likely not a bearing, as they tend to get worse over time...
