whistling noise?

I was wondering if some one could help me out. Im hearing a whistling noise coming from my pass side you can only hear it when the windows are down and you acelerate. Almost sounds like a vacum leak it gets louder as the rpms get louder. I have checked every where and cant find any vacum leaks so im a little stumped on it. Any one have this same problem and could give alittle advice.

I had the same problem.....exhaust. My stock muffler was kinda swiss cheesy.

Its most likely a hole in your muffler. I replaced mine, and the noise was gone!

mine is the jack on the roof lol ... I can hear it with the sunroof open. I'm guessing this probably isn't your problem though.

Nope not the muffler just had that replaced and any leaks welded up. I still hear the sound its deff coming from the front pass side of the vehical. Like i said befor it dosnt increase from speed but rpms from the motor so its not any holes or other things making the noise. It almost sounds like a turbo spooling up.

I have went over the vacum lines at least 10 times now and cant find a single one leaking. The guy that owned the truck befor me was having a problem with the truck idling high after he put a new motor in it. he replaced the IAC with a brand new one 200$ and it still was idleing high. I just adjusted the throtle body screw and it was fine. I know it sounds like a vacum leak but you cant hear it at idle and I just cant seem to pin point it. I even used starting fluid and sprayed the vacum lines to see if the idle would jump up and still nothing. I also forgot to mention that it only makes the noise under a load. With the vehical stoped in park and me under the hood it dosnt make the noise. Put the vehical under a load like in drive and go down the road you can hear it. But like I said it increases with rpms of the motor not speed. Thats why it has me stumped i cant be under the hood and drive it at the same time lol.

Ok i found it after looking at it again. I found that the upstream 02 sensor gasket is leaking. Guess the exhalst guys missed it. Thanx for all your help.

that damn whistle!! I've been dealing with that for a while now. Exhaust is getting done within a week or so hope it fixes it, Ill check the o2 sensor as well.
I was also stumped for the longest time, no longer thanks to t4r.org

2nd Gen SR5 EXTREME WHISTLING at 35+ mph

I've had my second Gen for a couple months now, and there's a possibility that I didn't notice it before, but recently I have been hearing a high pitched whistle coming from somewhere NEAR the dash once I reach 35-40 mph and above. I can't pinpoint the noise origin, and it's only when moving, not rpms, so I'm assuming it's from wind. I'm hoping people have had the same issue and might know which part is causing the whistle?

Can you duplicate it while giving gas in park or neutral while stationary? If not then it is not vacuum or exhaust. CV joint or wheel bearing.
