Yeah, I hear you about the gas. I just moved closer to work which cut my daily commute from 85 to 20 miles. At the time I figured I'd save $250/month, but now it's looking like $300 I'll save. That's half my rent! I'm getting about 16.5-17 mpg with mixed driving.
I just hit 90K last week. Does anyone know: For the V6, do you have to replace the timing chain at 90K? I've heard the V8 has a belt that needs to be replaced, but some people said the chains on the V6 don't need to be done. I had planned on doing this myself since I'm mechanically inclined and like to do my own work, but I may just have the dealer do it.

You have a timing chain, so I would not worry about changing yours for another 100k. But you may one to check on your water pump. Lucky you. I on the other hand, got mine changed at 97K out of fear that it would go any-day and destroy my engine. I got the belt and pump replaced. My mechanic said the water pump was already leaking a little at the seal, so for the low low price of $150 (pump itself) I got it replaced, along with the T belt and S belt. I didn't fool with the idler pulley or tensioner, but no problems so far (cross fingers).

Well, my rent is split three ways..I moved into a house with two of my buddies from college. Massachusetts is not that cheap really. We pay $1700/month for a three bed single family home just outside Boston, which is a pretty good deal.

My '04 (purchased May 31, 2004; about 2 weeks from turning 4 years old! 
) has 74k miles on it as I've been driving a bit less nowaday, but I did 30k within the 1st year. I should be able to hit 300k eventually.
I recall another member's post about meeting someone at gas station with a 4th gen 4R with around 240k miles on it and it was still running fine!

I just bought my 2008 so it only has 125 miles in one week. I expect this truck to be my last. I want to see 300,000 miles some day in the distant future. If it is like my two other Toyotas, it will last me my lifetime.

Just bought my '04 4Runner Limited with 86,000 miles about a month ago. Now I have 90,000 miles on it. I drive 74 miles round trip from home to work and back, plus once every week or so I make a trip to Rapid City for groceries, supplies, etc....
