Opi,
I live on the cusp of the OBX (Outer Banks) but have family in Spencer and Salisbury. All around that area was prime area for the tobacco farmer. Once the companies went bankrupt, those small towns were hit hard. Mocksville was no exception.
If just looking to rent, and married, I'd look to Greensboro/Winston-Salem. It has a great family atmosphere.
If single, Kannapolis is the way to go since the single eye candy is in Charlotte for the most part and Kannapolis is far away enough from Charlotte not to be affected by their high property taxes but close enough to visit on a night with a designated driver. The commute to Mocksville will be long so buy a 4cyl beater to get you there and back.

Kannapolis would be pretty good, but like LittleCaesar said it's a long commute. Probably not a hard commute, but I wouldn't want to drive ~36 miles each way.
I really don't know too much about Mocksville though.

lol 36 miles scares you. Thats my dads commute, my sisters do 52.

I'm not married, Im very single haha. I have my 308k mile sentra beater so I'm not real concerned with the cost, just the time may suck. My buddy is going down with me, we talked about possibly living in winston-salem area as its closer. he could have a store in greensboro if he wanted
I dont really either but I hate this area where I live now so much that ill take that as trade to be somewhere nicer

That's miserable. That's quite a bit of time wasted by driving to and from work.
I would agree that moving down here is better than living in Allentown. I would imagine much less traffic, lower cost of living, and better weather.

Winston-Salem has the same kind of atmosphere as Happy Valley PA without the big university there (but it does have Wake Forrest, but nowhere as big as PSU). Everybody though seems to be married. Greensboro is better, but neither is not a rich target environment per se. There are blue collar families in both towns that have been there since the 1700s. Single folks 25 and older that I know from that area usually leave for Charlotte or the Raleigh/Durham area in a hurry.
I do know many Philly residents who have moved to Charlotte and they plan to stay.
