My old marlboro bed in a bag from long ago
But i guess any twin mattress will work
I have screens on windows for a cool breeze and can wTch the stars through sunroof[emoji12]
And just reach over and grab a beer

Haha nice. Yea I've used mosquito nets, magnets and hot glue gun to make screens for windows and sunroof.
 
Thought I'd toss in an update since I last posted in this thread. I've changed my setup since.

First off, since my original post was re: a photography trip to Joshua Tree LAST year, I figured I'd toss in a handful of the pics I got...













And then finally, after a couple/three trips with sleeping in the back, I decided I was over it, and bought a roof-top tent. REI had a killer sale and I was able to get a Yakima SkyRise tent. LOVE that thing!

Must be nice being short. I can barely fit in the back at an angle with the passenger seat all the way forward. Feet are scrunched in the corner :/
 
Thanks OP, you're not only a skilled photographer but the reference to the cot is appreciated very much. One of these will fit right into my Snugpak Ionosphere too from the looks of it. Cheers

The Therm-a-rest Ultralite is available locally, cheaper, lighter, smaller packed and much more reserve capacity so will probably get one. Thanks again for planting the seed.

That looks like a comfortable and flexible setup for shorter solo trips!

I've been using a setup that works for two sufficiently short people (I'm 175 cm = 5'9") and provides 250 liters (9 cubic feet) of storage below the mattress.

It is based on these IRIS boxes whose height matches the interior wheel well cover so you can use the full width of the cargo area.

The drawback is that some interior height is lost accordingly. Seat bottoms and headrests do not need to be removed.

like grave said - i doubt id fit back there comfy too, at 6'3 210lbs with my gf. she is 6'3 315lb. jp shes only 5'5 - but i'll just deploy my Marmot catalyst 3P on the ground in less than 5mins!!

I just bought the same tent! Can I ask how you mounted the tent to your 4th gen? I bought the yakima timberline towers + bars to mount it on the stock roof rack, but the tent sits too high now. I'm now looking for alternative mounting options and was wondering what you used?

Did you have to take out the bottom seat that folds up vertically? I’ve been looking at doing this but I don’t know what will fit!

Thank you so much for writing this post. Of all of the cots I've looked at this cot works perfectly for the 4th Gen 4 runner. I was so impressed with the fitment of it inside the truck that I decided to do a video, hopefully this can be an easy and cost effective solution to other truck campers.

I just did a video on the Kingdom 3 Cot and NO you don't have to remove the seats! Check it out :thumb:
