Why do I buy Rigid Industries LEDs vs cheap china knockoffs?

Just wanted to share with my fellow 4Runner brethren.

My Rigid Dually D2s were bought back when Rigid was in their first factory/warehouse/office and it had 12 employees. This is why they made iNC 500 list Inc. 500 Announces Rigid Industries LED Lighting as Fastest Growing Private Companies

Horray for American Made products!

Recently after 3 years and 3 cars later it has developed a leak and it started to fog up.

-Emailed Rigid about the problem, got a response and a RMA within minutes
-Promptly sent them back the same day
-10 days later i get it back prepaid shipping and a new set.

thats customer service. i didnt get a song and a dance, i didnt get "where is the reciept", "who you buy it from", "they not a authorized retailer". i just got, "sorry to hear that. here is a RMA#. send it here and we will repair or replace your unit. what model were they? flood, driving, wide?"

new set fresh in the box. i doubt we will remember who we bought the cheap china knockoff square LED's in 3 years, and will they still be around to warranty them?

For perspective my 50" chinese brand is fogged up after 4 months and it has no warranty on it, granted it was cheaper and still works fine. I plan to buy a really nice LED bar like an Onx or Rigid next go around.

There's certainly merit in Rigid's lifetime warranty. I have bought two Chinese LED light bars for my 4Runner, and so far they are holding up. I'm that way with weapons, preferring to buy Sigs and Colts.

I pulled the end caps off but the lens seems to be glued in place or something, I wasn't sure how to get it out since tapping it didn't do anything. Ideas?

Another one of my buddies has a 20" Tuff LED light bar I used to run and it is fogging up also. Interestingly my side LEDs are totally fine and I've had them almost a year now. It seems front mounted bars fog up, which makes sense since they see all the pressurized water from rain and puddles.

The pre ordering stuff reminds me of when rigid was a tiny company.That's what they did, orders come in
and they couldn't make them fast enough.

I posted up jobber pricing on that bar for comparison, it retails at $1199

official vendor really? Only way now to be a official vendor is to be a stocking wholesale distributor with a minimum quarterly volume of $10,000. I know I can't do that kind of volume.

I'm just a lowly in house direct account that buys a unit here and there. I'll still go toe to toe with your buddy and price check him if anyone wants.

Obviously you didn't read my whole first post buddy. That's the reason why I made this post and shared my experience. You might suggest that he contact rigid on getting them taken care of.

Rigids are nice, but I still think they are too much for what they are... I'd be going with TRS's LED bar mainly because of my awesome experience I have had with their retrofit kits.

That being said though I would probably never go back to LED. I went the Chinese route and took some precautions to seal them when they were new. But I really don't like the look, plus my HID 700ff's put most, including the smaller rigids, to shame.

I understand that but when you need that much light the truck is typically running so its kind of a moot point. I have LED for everything that I use when I'm not driving.

well at those prices, I wont be getting them (vled's/morimoto's). I know they look very nice and have good light output, but for my vanity its a tad bit much for the amount of use I would get out of them (maybe 1% of the year).

I guess I can get replacement silverstars (lol) for about what 10 years before I even get close to the cost of one of those 20/30 bars. heck I probably wont even have this 4runner for that long, maybe tops 7 years and closer to 4-5 since that will be when its paid off
