Why so little selection of Cat Backs for 2000 3.4 4Runner?

Looking to add an aftermarket exhaust system and upgrade the intake...
Ok, so what's the deal with the 2000 4Runners?
I was only able to find the TRD exhaust for this year.
What's different from a '99 to a '00 in the layout of the exhaust, does it have different cats or something?
Also, what's the pipe size of the stock exhaust and the pipe size of the aftermarket kits like the TRD?

BTW, I have the deck plate mod with the Amsoil filter, but I still have the stock tube with the resonator box, I would like to eliminate it with just a tube (no resonator), who makes one from the throtle body to the stock box? It looks like the MIT tube from the Jr. AIRAID kit might work, any thoughts?
I just want to gain a little better throtle response and maybe with that gain a few HP.
How about changing to a intake system from K&N, AFE or AIRAID? Anyone using any of this kits that recomends it over the deck plate mod?

Yeah,selection is slim but IMO the best route and cheapest to take with the same end results would be to just buy a muffler you like and have a local shop weld you up some pipes and save well over half of what a TRD version would cost. I got a quote of under $300 for a catback with a Magnaflow muffler installed.

Stock pipe size is 2.25" and I think the TRD one is the same since going any bigger on a naturally aspirated 3.4 will just hurt low end useable power.

One the intakes there is nothing that gives more ponies than the deckplate with a good hi flow drop in filter especially but replacing the pipe is a good upgrade but don't spend over $100 for the part.

This might be with the shorter 18" muffler vs the 24" quiter version but I'm not sure.

Thanks for the reply, that's pretty much the same thing I did to the jeep, I just change the muffler since the stock pipes were 2 3/4 and the aftermarket exhaust kits were 2 1/2, to me it didn't make any sense, so I went ahead and got just the 18" Magnaflow for it. I guess I'll be doing the same to the Toyota, I'll decide on the size muffler after I hear the videos you sent, the 18" on the jeep is loud and I'm ok with it but I don't know I want another 18" if is going to be this loud, but then again the 4R is a 6, so it might not be that bad. It looks like I'll be keeping my Deck Plate mod and removing the stock tube soon.
If there's a tuner or chip you recomend please let me know.

Chips and such have also been proven to be just a gimmick on 3rd gens and you should just keep your money in your wallet.

I like keeping the money in my pocket, you have help me with your answers on the subject a lot.
So all I'll be doing is to just add a muffler and replace the intake tube, cool.
BTW, I'm giving this 2000 4Runner to my father, so I want to give it to him running really nice. I know he has pretty much the same taste as I have on cars, so adding a nice exhaust tone and a little better throttle response will make him a happy camper. The 4R has only about 37K miles, so pratically is still brand new, my wife took good care of it.
I'll post pictures here after the mods.
