will a 95 vsv solenoid work for a 96?

Hi everyone, got a newcomer to the forum.

so i've had trouble shifting into 4wd and after trying all the tips without success so i took it to a shop and was told i needed to replace my vsv solenoid.I have a 96 sr5 automatic with a j shifter. since i did not have the money for i new part i looked around to see i could get one used. I found one from a 95 and was wondering if the only difference was the layout. I will attach pictures of each part. any help would be awesome. thanks

VSV or Vacuum switching valve is a pretty simple part. It just directs vacuum from on port to the next so as long as you check to make sure both the 95 and 96 switch between the same ports you are good.

They are actually just two separate on/off valves yoked together. So yeah, it should be easy to use the 95, especially if the electric plugs fit.

They actually do switch between ports. The large portion that he is holding in the bottom pic is the third port just with a filter over it.

I just switched the solenoids and my light came on right away. i feel the 4wd kick in but occasionally is sound like the wheels skip a bit (sounded like the rear wheels).
