Winch bumper for 2014 4Runner Trail???

I just bought a 2014 Trail edition 4runner. I have been searching all over for a winch bumper with no luck. I called ARB today and was told that they don't have one on the drawing board yet--so it will be a while before they produce one. Shrockworks, a company in Houston, TX makes the only one I've been able to find, but they are 4 months out on orders. So if I order mine today, I won't get it until the middle of September. I promise I will be stuck in a mudhole before then. Does anyone know where to find a winch bumper for the 2014? Thanks for any help.

Everybody still pretty much seems to be prototyping them for the moment. There are only one or 2 Schrockworks bumpers actually made as far as I know. Miguelon has the original on his Unlimited build. And Demello just started one a couple weeks ago that they may be in the finishing stages of. That new nose has everybody kind of mystified.
 
You'll still have to wait quite a few weeks to finally receive yours when you do order. There's not many companies who make these items for us and they're all hand built. I believe ARB's are produced by stamping which allows for them to mass produce them. I could be wrong there so I'm sure someone will correct me.

Even those that are getting ready for a 2014 version (most are I believe), are going to need the truck to be left with them for at least a portion of the time until they have built a few. Then, and only then, are you even going to be able to order one to be shipped. Just one of the pains of body style changes I guess. Understand your anxiousness to get out and push the limits though. However, if you go with someone who already had a winch, which is strongly suggested anyway, you could do pretty much anything you want and they can always rescue you. The plus side is that you won't care much about dings and scratches since you know you want a new bumper anyway!

Or should I say same Trail :lol: I too want a winch bumper for my 2014 trail. Guess I don't need to be in any hurry!

Have any of you 2014 Trail owners looked into a top rack? I've been looking hard at the Gobi, but that is 2 Grand after adding in extras. I just find it hard to fork over that kind of money on an accessory that COULD POSSIBILY be substitued by something a lot less expensive.

He was able to modify the Budbuilt hidden winch mount for his LE. If you read the thread it sounded like the OP was in contact with the manufacturer about adapting the mount to work with the 2014's front-end.

I'm hoping it happens, as I don't want or need a full blown bumper and plan to keep the mods light for now. However, I learned the lesson of having a winch the hard way when I was younger and would love to have a M8000 nicely hidden up front.

Either way looks like it'll be awhile before bumpers/winch mounts become available for the '14s.

I personally love the look of the new front end. Im building my bumper out of 1 3/4 chrome ally and its gonna be almost prerunner style. I don't want to take away from the look but will have a winch and full skid plate.
 
Southern style speed bumper

I broke down and paid for the Southern Style Speed winch bumper. It has some pros and cons.
Pros:
1) looks great finished--except for the fairlead placement.
2) Came with the BEST instructions I've ever used to replace anything on a vehicle
3) Not too heavy

Cons:
1) The fairlead hole is angled down. See the pictures. Why didn't they put the hole in the front? There is no good reason to have the hole angled down. I wish I had noticed that in the stock pictures before I bought it.
2) Cost. It is approx $1000. If you add lights it is well over that.
3) It costs an EXTRA $125 for it to come painted. Wow. So I had to paint it myself.
 
I love my SSS bumper, and I've already got to use the winch 3 times. I believe the fairlead is where it is because Kevin had to keep the winch down low for clearance on all the lines and braces in front of the radiator. It hasn't been a problem for ground clearance, but I am really glad I didn't have to use a roller fairlead.

In your reply box, if you scroll down below the text box, there is a button titled "Manage attachments". Click on that and it will show a popup window to choose your file from the computer. Click a "Choose file" button and select the file you want then click the upload button. When your file has uploaded the file you chose will disappear from the list and show up lower down in the window as a blue link. You can then close that window and the picture will show up in your replay below your text.
