Winch synthetic line question

Guys, I have x2o winch with synthetic line. It comes with a Velcro style cover that wraps around the synthetic line. Does this cover get spooled in first as a heat barrier ? Or is this cover made to be outside the bumper to protect the line ?

this is confusing, because some people simply say it is a rock guard. Some say to use the sleeve to wrap it around the drum.....

It is a velcro sleeve

well figured it out in a min lol called smittybilt.

x2o does not need a thermal sleeve, as the brake system is not in the drum it self. The only winch that does need the thermal sleeve is, xrc
