Wind Shield Wiper Motor

This may be a dumb question, but my wife was driving our 4 runner and she asked me if the windshield wiper motor should be that loud. I went out and took a listen and it does sound like it is working harder then it should. Anyone else ever notice this or is the motor just loud on the 4 runner.

Tell her to get out and listen to it while you cycle the settings leading her to believe that she is listening for "grinding". Do a few different speeds to really lead her on then hit her with a healthy burst of horn. After she goes "WHAT THE F*CK JOHN!" keep a straight face look dead into her eyes and ask her, "Does it still sound like it's working too hard?".
