Hi,

What's the purpose of adding Rain-X and what Rain-X product would you be referring to.

What is the best windshield washer fluid to use.

Rain-X is a glass treatment solution. What Rain-X does is it seals up the pores on the glass, making it super slick and smooth. After applying Rain-X on your windows, water will bead off the glass and will not sheet or stay on it. I don't need the wipers at speeds above 15-20mph with a freshly treated Rain-X windshield. After some dirt sticks on it, then I need more speed. Even at it's dirtiest and without washing, freeway speeds, I don't need wipers. However, I don't think Rain-X is really needed on the front side windows, side mirrors and windshield, because the 4th gen 4R already has rain repellant treatment on it.

Has anyone tried the Michelin wiper blads from Costco? I did notice they didn't have the 22" blades, but they do look like they might be a good blade.

I've got the Bosch Icons ...

And I'm going to swap them out for PIAA's soon. The Icons are OK, but they don't clean the windshield well at the edges. In other words, the outside ends of the wipers don't stay on the glass and leave streaks. I wasn't too happy with that, considering the price of these guys, and I'm real picky about wipers because I hate streaks.

I did replace my rear wiper, but it was with the Toyota OEM model.

The Michelin Radius, or the normal metal frame Michelin? If its the normal metal frame ones, I recommend them. I have them on now so far for 2 weeks and they work great, no streaking, shuttering, or chattering. Rain-X wipers and these Michelin ones are the nice cost effective wipers that I recommend, if you don't want to be the PIAA's. The Michelin radius i wouldn't recommend them because they are just like the Bosch Ionics and the Gliders ones, they suck, lol. The don't "hug" the windshield at all.

I went and picked up a set of the Bosch Icons tonite. You need to get the one with the proper curve for the windshield. They have an A version and a B version. They looked it up and the 4R uses the A version .

I bought mine at Advanced Auto parts for around 18.00 each normally, BUT they have 25% off until end of the month .

I will review when I get them on and test in the winter and rain ect....

Hey Falls, any review, feedback about the Bosch Icon blades with snow, sleet etc? The stock wipers really froze up on me and gathered a lot of ice on my trip to the U.P.

I'll be interested to hear how the Icons perform in the snow & ice. I've been running factory Toyota blades during the summer and Anco winter blades once the snow hits. The Anco's are a nice blade but they do suffer from wind lift at highway speeds.

Rain-X is fine on the side and back windows of my vehicles but it drives me nuts if it's on the windshield. The water seems to bead up into superfine drops that just scatter oncoming headlights. I will admit that it works well and makes snow & ice much easier to remove but the added glare at night just isn't worth the convenience.

I just went to the dealer and bought the Toyota winter blades at the beginning of the winter and they seem to work just fine.

Just switched my blades out over the holidays. I've tried "winter blades" in the past but they always lift and chatter at speed because of the bulk. They cost more than regular but decided to try a "Reflex" blade (Canadian Tire) that's a similar idea as the Bosch pictured earlier. They have 2 styles but this one is a single spring steel frame without pivot joints. It doesn't have any aerodynamic shape like the Bosch. Just started seeing winter weather and so far so good. They hold against the glass at speed and do a good job clearing heavier slush without freezing up. I would expect that from any new blade so we'll see how they hold up.

I've had PIAA regular blades for two winters and as long as I clean them before I drive I've had no issues with them. I've never like traditional winter blades and haven't seen a need to spend extra for them.
