Wipers Still Malfuntion (After Switch Replacement)

Hey folks,

I did do some research first, which led me to getting another wiper switch. Turns out, that didn't fix my issue. Looking for new ideas.

Symptoms: After discovering a rodent chewed through some wires under the hood (passenger side firewall/wheel well), my wipers only worked in high, and don't return to rest position. Sounded like it was the switch/relay, so I replaced that. Same issues still persist. It also blew the fuse for the cabin lights, easy fix. Wiring has been repaired.

Just to clarify, the windshield wiper relay is located on the actual switch, correct?

I doubt the relay is on the switch, it's likely in the engine compartment. What year truck, please?

The switch is 8465214640 or 8465214641, double check your model of 4runner or call your local toyota dealer with that PN and your VIN and ask about the relay

Doesn't appear that a relay exists for an '02 4R. Anyone know if a "relay", or equivalent, is built in to the wiper motor?

Not sure if you ever got this figured out or not, but there is in fact a small relay built into the wiper switch stalk. There is a thread somewhere on replacing just the relay. It's around a $10 fix from what I've read. That may be in my future as well.
