Wiring Help for Pioneer In-Dash

Had a few questions about some wirings on the provided Pioneer harness, as there aren't any matches on the adapter harness. Basically trying to find where I should hook these wires into:

car speed signal input wire
parking brake wire
reverse gear signal input wire

** I believe for the parking brake wire, I'll just ground it to bypass the restriction.

So that leaves car speed and reverse gear signals.

i dont think that works with the newer pioneer stuff. old stuff back then.... yes, vss is like a pink wire behind the climate i think. video bypass, you will need a relay harness, i think they have those on ebay. do you have a back up cam? if no, dont worry about the reverse wire.
 
You need the bypass module for Pioneer models like the one you have (AVH)... the AVIC-NEX's you can just ground the ebrake wire.

Agreed.. It was a night mare for me.. I had to take my indash out many times. Buy the bypass..

I researched and got a lot of conflicting info..

Here is what I found.

Newer Pioneer indash. ie nex or avic.

simply grounding the ebrake wire does not work.
made a Bypass relay does not work
..

I tried both of these.. I spent under 15 bucks on a bypass module. Connected 3 wires.. Now it works flawlessly.

Sigh.. I need to take it out one more time. To turn down the gain on the Amp modue that hooks up to the main harness to run the oem amp.. There is an air/static sound that exist even when not in use. Just an additional FYI incase you have the issue.
 
Also, what are you all doing with the blue "System remote control" wire coming off the Pioneer HU harness?

Since we don't have a power antenna and I don't have any AMP to power I'm assuming I just leave it alone?

yup, just leave it alone, thats what i did.
 
Welp, figured I'd report back.

E-brake wire grounded... and works perfectly for the AVIC-NEX5000 (and above) headunits for the bypass. No module needed.

Didn't bother with the speed-sense wire since I didn't want to splice into an ECU wire and everything works fine without it. Also didn't hook up the antenna wire either.
 
did anyone figure out which is the reverse signal trigger? i bought a wireless receiver for the back up cam but i need to find that wire, lol.
 
The VSS wire is behind the a/c controls. A purple wire with a red strip. It is the one in the top as you can see in the first picture. Do not use the one in the bottom I used and it did not work.

Where did y'all put the aux input, usb input (where you can connect your iPhone charger to), & the microphone?

I found a kit that has an aux input and the usb input in one. It looks like it will fit in the center console where the original aux input is. (Similar to pic attached) If not, I was thinking about finding a way to put them in the empty places where the heating switches would go.

I'm still not sure how or where to put the mic. Any ideas?

Looking to install my USB/jack inputs on the console, in an open slot between the seat heaters. Looking for something similar to above, but with no cover. Has anyone done this?

So I bought a unicorn 2003 4Runner v8 with 40,000 miles on it recently, 6/2023. I’ve already concluded it’s the best auto I’ve ever owned. BUT,
I want to replace the jbl, rds, radio. I’m fine with the Jbl amp and speakers so am looking for a modern replacement with Apple CarPlay, Bluetooth, am/fm/ satellite would be great but likely not worth the hassle and I don’t need backup camera.

I’ve been looking on Crutchfield and it’s confusing, plus most YouTube’s are several years old, is there a solid recommendation for a unit, budget I’d spend up to a grand. Thankyou.

I have a Pioneer AVH-2550NEX and highly recommend it or any of the Pioneer AVH line.
