Won't Start Looking for suggestions

Hello all

I have a 2004 Sport with a 4.7 V8 and 175,000 miles.

Over the last week the vehicle started to have a little rough idle then died one time. Next time the idle got rough the two vsc lights and check engine light came on.

Took it to my firend and it showed misfires on all 8 cylinders P300-308. Cleared and took it for a drive. Continued to show random misfires under load. We had determined that we were going to replace the plugs (alas they were the originals) and see what kind of shape the coils were in.

Today the beast just died and wouldn't restart. Prior to dying it lost all power an wouldnt rev up above 500 rpm. On the next couple attempts it would start but not generate rpm above 500 and then die.

My gut feels like its fuel related but I am not a very good mechanic. I ran a full tank of super with lucas this week but didn't help. Then i saw all the failed gaskets on the V6's and got worried about the V8

Anyone have a suggestion or advice for me. Since it wont start Im gonnay try to pull it to my friends shop in the morning.

Thank you

Based on what you have described, these would be the areas of concern that I would consider (in no particular order) ...

It could be some sort of fuel issue - fuel not reaching the fuel injectors (clogged fuel filter or defective fuel pump); fuel injectors dirty; water in fuel; a bad tank of gas.

I'd also check the battery terminals for corroded or loose connections. Could be some sort of ignition issue. Worn, faulty or incorrectly gapped spark plugs.

Possibly low cylinder compression?
