I found another 2013 last night that has no sunroof and factory leather. I might drive by and see it today on my way home from work. Different dealer this time. Crossing my fingers.

well if it helps any ... and at the possible expense of being ridiculed. i bought a former SR5 2013 rental. it has 17k miles on it. i have only had it 6 weeks and so far its fine. it was in great condition in/out, was able to look at the toyota services done along with recorded maintanence done by the rental agency.
the only drawback is that you don't get the free 24 month/24k services such as oil changes. beyond that, its still under full factory warranty. tires were in excellent condition, etc.
in the end its a freaking 4runner that was barely a year old with 17k miles...yea i'm not concerned at all. anyway that's my experience and good luck to you. :lookout:

I read people rent a car similar to theirs to replace a part on their own cars, alternators , starters, batteries things like that. One day rental with a coupon cheaper than buying the part.
I have always bashed rentals hard, once flying out of Colorado Springs I did a hot lap on Pikes Peak. That car stunk to high hell of burning this or another when I dropped it off. Dash lights blinking. Got the rental for free for my time and trouble.
Buyer beware. But then again I don't buy used cars. I view the warranty as my own personal sponorship.

I bought a 4Th Gen that was a previous rental once. Purchased from a Toyota dealer as a Certified Used. Had a couple issues that were probably due to prior abuse. Had a rear diff whine on the freeway, drive shaft clunk, mismatched tires and an aftermarket radiator cap. Took back to the Dealer, they replaced rear diff and drive shaft under warranty, installed two brand new Michelin LTX's to make tires match (tires have to be matching brand and model on a Certified used) and replaced rad cap with factory one. After that had zero issues with the truck until I sold it years later.
Its very hard to find there trucks used, especially with low miles. People just don't sell them, and rentals are usually all that is on the market as they sell them off around 30K miles.
Bottom line is, it will likely still be under warranty and you are going to take it off road anyways so you will probably be fine with a rental if that's all you can find.

It’s one thing to get an ex-rental with less than 20k miles, but that’s a bit too many that I’d personally be comfortable with. Def get a PPI prior to buying

My 15 SR5 was a company vehicle. 14K miles on it and the only issue I could find was the area around the ignition was gouged from folks trying put the key in an unfamiliar vehicle. I didn’t really want a black truck but it was about $3000 less than similar models with double the mileage.
