Would you trade your 5th Gen for this?

Just going on looks alone and assuming it's all there mechanically, yes, but to a point. But my 5th is only a year old, so not straight up.

It's probably half rotted underneath, painted over with bedliner to hide it. The drivetrain probably has an inch thick layer of grime and nastiness from 30yrs of leaking and the engine is probably slightly sludged up. That is probably before you throw in whatever damage they did to it in the name of "mods yo". I can already tell it's probably got a rather questionably done stereo set-up and the nightmare of wiring that probably goes with that...

But yeah I'd sacrifice a 5th gen if I had one for a project truck like that if it wasn't too horrible. Not my 4th gen though...

I would buy that as a secondary car or fun car. I would not trade my current 4runner for it.

I've owned project cars in the past, and its fun wrenching and fixing them on the side. I wouldn't want to wrench and fix cars that I had to depend on as a daily driver, it gets old fast.

I hear ya -- thread title was just to get the conversation started. Not parting with my '15 TuRD just yet, but, I'm loving that chop top 4Runner as a secondary for sure.
