Wow, check out 2011 Wrangler's Interior!

Wow, Jeep really did a very good job with the interior for the 2011 Wrangler IMO:

But, unfortunately, the powertrain is still a decade old...3.8L V6 with 4-speed auto (or 6-speed manual).

And, to get the Wrangler Rubicon that i want, the total came out to about $34,500...ouch! Well, at least now, the interior matches the asking price for the first time in the history of the Wrangler! Oh well, maybe next year, there will be the new Pentastar 3.6-liter V6 with the 5-speed auto or the overseas diesel...dreaming....

It is appealing to me for sure...that was one of two complaints that i have about the current Wrangler (****ty interior design and powertrain).

I agree, ...., that would make it a little more enjoyable for long road trips, or even just daily driving. But I'm not sure I would want to take that off-road through some of the trails and mud-holes that Jeeps were made for, ....., true Jeep off-road enthusiasts will find a plush interior to be use-less and almost offensive.

Well, it ain't a Lexus interior. Nothing has really changed from the materials point of view compared to previous interior versions...the new dash is just better designed. The radio is the same. The floor is still with cheap carpet and drain holes. The seats are stain & water resistant. Except now, you have a nice looking dash with reasonable ergonomics and an actual door (and center) armrests (!!!!). Hell, just the improved elbow room and armrests will make any off-roader jump for joy! :lmao:

The problem for me is by the time I was done checking option boxes I'd probably be at $40+k, stupid money for a Jeep.

x2!! Damn, that would be one perfect Jeep!

BUT, for me, if the opportunity presents itself down the road (kids grown up, Sienna on its last leg, etc), then i will probably still get the 4runner Trail (hopefully with Multi-mode 4wd at that time!). I just don't need all the awesome off-road capability of the Rubicon...my courage to do battle with rocks has declined with age! At the same time, i do need the comfort and safety of a full-blooded SUV (aka 4runner)...not just for me, but for my family on trips to Colorado, Utah, etc.. The Jeep would be nice IF i live in Colorado or Utah where the off-roading and mountains are a footstep away...as of now, those places require long journeys on the highway...and this is the Wrangler's Achilles heel...a heel that my children and wife (and my aged kidneys) would not like.

So, love it that Jeep is improving, but 4runner is where i will be...if the opportunity presents itself....

I still think a Rubicon is the answer for you. You just need some testosterone supplement and the Rubi needs Prevost in front of it :lmao:

What makes u think that it cannot be hosed out? 3rd pedal is standard with automatic optional. For off-roading, I prefer automatic.

The luxury interior is less likely to have that waterproof option, and all the electrics in there i.e. Navigation, that steering wheel, leather, power windows...

I just don't like this, the wrangler was like the last utliterian vehicle offered for everyday non commerical use, and now they are trying to make it more upmarket.

Well, the current Wrangler since 2007 has had a navigation system as an option. The previous Wranglers have had stereo system, A/C controls, etc..

The "hose it down" interior refers to being able to wash the floor, which includes drain holes. It does NOT mean that you can spray the garden hose to any part of the interior (e.g. dash!). In the past, (before 2007), all you had was just cheap carpet. The 2007-current Wranglers still have these drain holes but is now covered with a thin sheet of insulation and cheap carpet, both of which are revmovable for hosing.

They are not trying to make it "upmarket"...more like up to date. The previous interiors were seriously lacking in basic comfort. No where to put your elbows except on the door sills. People used to fashion small steel blocks to raise the front seats to acceptable height. Power windows & door locks are a must-have if you ever carry more than just yourself in the car. The current design does not necessary mean that they are susceptible to occasional water splash...just look at the 2010 4runner window switches!

BTW, the speakers in the sound system are water resistant...just in case of water splashes.

The MAIN thing that makes a Wrangler is still there...water resistant cloths, drain holes, easy to take apart flooring, solid axles, part-time 4wd system, classic looks, etc.. Jeep continues to get it "right" with the Wrangler, unlike the rest of the lineup.

Overall, I think this is an exciting time in the auto industry as manufacturers are entering into a design renaissance and flex their creative muscles - as opposed to the fugly vehicles of the 80s-90s and early 00's.

I agree..especially for the struggling carmakers.

Looks good. Definitely would not expect that interior in a Wrangler, but hey that's great that Jeep is stepping it up there. I dislike the brown color, but that's a small complaint. Never really cared much for Wranglers to begin with, or Jeep in general. I think the SRT8 is the only one I'd really love to own, but that's a whole different grouping than what the Wrangler is about.

Well, for 2012, it looks like Jeep Wrangler will get the Penstar V6 that is currently in the 2011 Grand Cherokee. I am not sure what transmission will come with it. No diesel though...only for export.

But, hmmm, Penstar V6 could do wonders for the Wrangler!

Sure, but i like it when car manufacturers are desparate for customers!! A Wrangler with 280+ HP and 250+ torque...and torque exceeds 90 percent of peak torque from 1,600 to 6,400 rpm! I will be happy with a 5-speed auto tranny...or even better, the upcoming 6-speed auto! All that power in such a small package (4100 lbs for SWB, 4300 for LWB)....
