I've had my truck over a year now . The heat has been sub par at best. Mostly only being hot on first two settings. If I turn on high it was cool air pretty much. So after some research on here I read about flushing the heater core. I did it today. A lot of brown dirty water ame out. I also reversed it until water was clear. For good measure I put a new heater valve on too since it was cheap. Now the heat is so hot it's almost unbearable, on all settings too. Even when sitting in park it's hotter than ever. Something it never was able to do. What a good simple trick. Now I have to overhaul then whole cooling system since my rad spring a leak.

Here is my input.
I disconnected both hoses coming from the engine to the heater core. I bought two rubber hoses from Lowes and attached those two to the heater core.
Run tap water with low pressure from one hose and drain it from the other hose. Then reverse the hoses. Finally drain the heater core with distilled water and re-attach the hoses coming from the engine.
Be very careful with heater core tubings. They are aluminum and can break/bend easily. If you damage one of those, you have to pull the entire dash and wiring costing about 20 hours of work.

Never heard of Brown coolant! Now just imagine the really important part of the cooling system? :cowboy:

Just FYI, don't waste any time getting this fixed. If you're not aware of the "pink milkshake" issue with these trucks, it happens when the coolant and the transmission fluid mix due to a busted radiator, and it ruins the transmission. Easily avoided if you're aware of it.
