I'll be in the market for a new daily in a week or so and I've decided that I want a 1st gen 4runner. I will be moving outside of my home city of Louisville, KY soon and need something super reliable that can handle itself on a snowy country road on the ride back into town for work...... Plus, my 7 yr old son is jacked about the top coming off!
I've had some seat time in a mid 80s tacoma so, I'm familiar with the drive characteristics of the platform. Plus, I'm a sucker for 80's japanese cars!
Ok, so here's what I'm looking for in specific.
No year biased as long as it's 1st gen.
Preferably the 22re with a manual trans (can be flexible on this for the right vehicle!)
Solid frame and minimal body rust but, I'm not afraid of a little toyota rust. I understand they are old and will have some.
Working heat and preferably A/C or atleast with some components left so that I can have the A/C repaired. (Again I'm flexible on A/C if the truck is worth it)
Mileage is of no real concern as long as the owner can show some type of proof of regular maintenance.
I have around a 3k budget. I'm located in Louisville,Ky. I'm no stranger to a weekend road trip if the price is right. Would like to stay within 400-500 miles.
