WTB/WTT: TX 99-02 4WD 3rd gen $8k budget

It's way below your budget (and mine) and it could be nice with some work. Mechanically it is in good shape. TBelt, water pump, hoses, belts, and radiator were all done within the last 40k or so. The paint is in need of some TLC, but no noticeable dents. It has older OME shocks all the way around. The inside is what turned me away, it's a little rough in places. I'm looking for my wife so I want a clean one. The Mexico special leather seat recovering needs to go, and the leather beneath them isn't TOO bad. I'm just not in the market for something I've got to spend a bunch of time fixing right now, that's what my 1st gen is for :heh:
 
Bump. Can stretch my budget a bit if it will get the job done. Open to a mildly built rig. Nothing to extreme. Still my main requirements are no rust and well maintained.
 
You will most likely say no. I have a 2000 Limited silver with oak interior. it has 132k miles it is 4wd. There is a hole in the frame. I have had it looked at, as soon as I get it welded the rest of the frame is solid and wont rust out for a long time. Im asking 4k for it.

Agreed. The only thing killing it for me is the mileage. I take care of my vehicles (my wife would argue I take better care of them than her...sorry dear) but not sure it has enough life left. Haven't seen too many 4runners in the +400k miles range and it would not take me too many years to get there starting at 230k.

yeah i hear you..
i guess it would depend on whether or not it would be your daily driver.
i bought mine at 176k and i drive it often. however, my commute is short.
i just thought it'd be worth a look since it's been so nicely modified. that guy did that work himself so clearly he knows what he's doing. that would lead one to believe that he took care of it.

May consider trading the fj40 for a nice 3rd gen t4r plus cash

Reviving the old thread...Have been contemplating this for a while but had difficulty coming to the conclusion that it may be time to let ole blue go...

Would even consider trading my 1979 fj40 for low mileage 4wd t4r limited (with diff lock) or sport preferred. I won't go into all the details but here are the highlights:
3rd owner (drove to GA with my dad who suddenly and recently passed away to purchase). Having a hard time enjoying this anymore since his passing.
Garage kept since I have owned it
Purchased approx 3-4yrs ago with 97k miles. Currently has approx 101k
2F with 4 speed trans (trans and trans case were rebuilt when I bought the fj40 not because they needed it but because I was replacing the rear main seal and figured I might as well while they were off the truck)
Custom 4+ warn 8274 front bumper with warn 8274
Swing out tire carrier/jerry can rear bumper
Custom roof rack
factory power steering rebuilt by Matt at West TX Offroad
OEM/port installed AC (blows cold)
Front discs and rear drums rebuilt.
New thermostat, oil pan gasket, and other odds and ends as needed.
Oil changes Atleast once a year.
The next project I was going to tackle is to replace the floor pans. They were fiber glassed several years ago versus replacing with metsl because 1979 and later body parts are hard to find but I have an factory matched entire front floor pan which took me forever to get a hold of. Does not have to be replaced but I am anal. Over all I give it a 7 or 8 out of 10.

I don't have all the pics that I should readily available such as undercarriage and so on but can get them if you have a good trade. Looking to trade rather than sell at the moment but may reconsider.

I am the original owner. $25,500 with all accessories. Willing to sell accessories separately after truck sells if buyer doesn't want certain accessories. Can provide more pics upon request. Can not officially sell until I find a 4Runner.
