Yakima old style brackets for oem crossbars

Are you talking about the RailGrab Towers? you can still buy these through Yakima, or other seller on the internet. It's what I have on my rig now.
im talking about the ones that go on the factory cross bars, not side rails. Look like this

As near as I can tell the old ones have the same name as the new ones: Mighty Mounts. Which makes finding them rather difficult. I see exactly what you mean: with the old style a ski rack when locked would effectively lock the mount to the cross bars. I have an old set fortunately but I don't see how the new ones would work this way....that is a problem. The ones you show are pretty specific to a ski rack - there may be others but most attachments have the bolt that attaches the attachment to the mount vertical, while the ski racks use a horizontal bolt....hmmm.....
If I'm remembering correctly - I'm at work and all my Yak rack parts are at home - this style is just as secure. I have some of these as well - the bolts that hold it to the crossbars have their heads covered with plastic, and the plastic can only be removed when the attachment (ski rack) is removed from them and the ski rack can't be removed unless it's open. SO once it's locked it's pretty good.
edit: AH-HA! Here they are: https://www.ebay.com/i/352220086857?chn=ps . It says Nissan but I bet they'd fit the Toyota bars.
