Yellow Fog Lights

Anybody Have a link to some info on what color of fog lights are legal in UTAH.

I have found some info in other states and some times it links to federal standard laws witch is followed sometimes.

Best I can find is the inspection book says that auxiliary lights can be white, yellow, or amber. So now the debate is, Are fog lights auxiliary lights or headlights?
Had a cop give me crap over the yellow but he did not give me a ticket. I believe they can be yellow.

I'm pretty sure yellow's fine in Utah. I've seen people running them all over... But i'm not 100% on what the law is.

does utah have any laws reguarding when fog lamps can be on if weather does not require their use? if not maybe he thought they were too blinding since you installed HID's in them & are possibly adjusted to aim farther down the road, since you lifted it, have you adjusted them lower.

ah, just took another look at the pic, your not referring to the 4 piaa's on the light bar are you? the way i look at it, Fog lights purposefully angle light downward toward the surface of the pavement so that drivers can see the path of the road or highway in inclement weather, & most states consider yellow acceptable, driving lights are a different story & should be white.

yellow is fine, and its the best. i think there is a certain time it cant come on, like fogs on, and no other lights are on is illegal in some states, tahoe or reno right?

Can someone fill me in on the preference of yellow fog lights? Is it for looks or performance? I never went for that look but many others have so I am just wondering.

For me, it was more aimed to a personal preference of the look. It does illuminate differently at night, in a good way. Has to be one of my favorite mods on my truck.

Yellow light doesnt reflect as much from falling snow and fog, so it provides a much more clear view through the snow and fog rather than just reflecting a bunch of light back at you.

Yellow is NOT the best, except for one specific situation. Snow. The French invented yellow "fog" lights (and indeed, yellow headlights, both low and high beams) to help avoid snow blindness when driving in a snowstorm, up in the alps. French bureaucracy then mandated that all cars registered in France must have yellow lights, for consistency's sake, so you had the bizarre spectacle of cars in Morocco, Tunisia and Algeria where it's much too dry to even contemplate snow or fog, driving around with yellow headlights. France has since abandoned this practice, upon it's entrance into the european union.
I had to drive with them for something over three years, and I can tell you they're worthless! You can't see anything with them! Good riddance.

see my last post, above. Except for snow, they ain't much good. In fog or rain, I'll take white; experience has taught me that. Yellow lights are a French invention, but even they don't use them anymore, having seen the light, so to speak........

yellow vs white for fogs has been a long time debate, in the end most of the studies say just use whats best for you. putting aside what we all said, which is best, aiming & so on, & getting back to what the OP was asking,... are fogs considered aux. or headlights & which color is legal in his state. anyone else from UTAH know?
