Yes/No on oil change before big trip...oh & I only have 3500 miles

1000 mile move back home to California, with steep grades in Colorado, long stretches of gasless highway in Utah and the August heat of Nevada/California. I've been waiting on my 5000/mile oil change, but I'm debating whether to make the trip without it and get it done when I roll into SoCal, or just do it here in Denver.

I'm leaning toward getting it done before I leave, but I'll happily listen to any advice/suggestions.

yes change it. If its the factory oil, get it out. The engine break in process typically has higher amounts of metal in the engine oil. As far as oil goes, I recommend a good synthetic oil and a OEM toyota filter or comparable aftermarket filter,( puralator, wix, napa.)

Yes, you should definitely change the oil. It is a brand new vehicle so you don't know whats in the oil. In addition, you can never change your oil too often!

Change now and Change it again when you get back from your trip. I would.

It's safer to change it now and maybe when you get back. I'd change it.
