You think the Apple CarPlay Radio will mount into the 5th gen?

I am going to post a "Crowd Funding Project" in order to buy a new OEM 2020 Headunit and try to retrofit it to older T4Rs 5th Gen, and then share the results with all.

The cost of the unit is about $3000 now. So If 100 people fund $30/ea, we will have enough money to start the project. If the project does not raise $3000, those who paid, will get their money refund.

I own a TRD Pro 2017 and I love to update its infotainment with the OEM 2020. It seems no one has done it yet, and no one is ready to take the risk to try!

What is your opinion?

Haha. Good luck with that. If it works imma start a crowd fund to purchase a new 2020 T4R Pro.

Any luck with this yet on the OEM 2020-1 head-unit? I have a 2019 Limited that want to upgrade to the newer head-unit.

More like I don't think anyone was willing to do something so ridiculous. I mean if you want to pitch it yourself, then sell plug-and-play harness and instructions that's one thing. Basically asking 100-300 people to buy you a head unit to "test" then have them expect to get paid back "if it works"... lol is akin to buying a piece of the Brooklyn Bridge.

i would think its possible, just need to figure out the pin configuration of each unit and could slice & solder into the necessary lines.

Of course it’s possible. I have seen people build more than a dozen plug and play upgrades for this generation truck. You’re missing my point
