Your favorite recovery gear

I know it's not exactly a shackle, but I have the Smittybilt Beaver Step in my receiver and it has come in handy several times now as a recovery point for myself as well as pulling others out. It has a 10,000 lbs. tow capacity rating and is big, burly, and definitely built to last. Highly recommend!

It also works well as added protection against tailgaters!

stop and think about that for a second.

they weigh roughly 4k lbs. I expect an 8k rated strap would break VERY quickly. im sure @1engineer can break it down for us, but the amount of energy a 2 ton rig can build up is massive.

the lightest I use are 20k. ive got some that are 30k also.

Aren't they normally rated for 1/4th their breaking strain? I though an 8k strap was tested to break at 32k.
 
Welp I ordered up some Bubba 7/16 soft shackles and an ARB 715 recovery strap from [MENTION=119443]Twitchstyle13[/MENTION]! Hopefully I never need to use them!

It was awesome for the short amount of time I had to spend there (4 hours). I would have tried more trails had I found a group to ride with in the same "not lifted" category. Lol
