Your learned opinion solicited

Hi,
Today, I learned that My daily driver (not Toyota) has a blown engine. So, not having any leeway, due to my POS job, to be without transportation, I need to buy a vehicle now.

Found a 1996 4Runner in my area for what I can afford; 5 speed V6. The pictures look good and the seller describes it as reliable.

My question for you who know these vehicles; would you spend $3K on a 4Runner with 228,000 miles?

Thanks!

Yes! But make sure you take a good look underneath it and check for chassis rust/rot if you don't know what to look for there is lots of people in Colorado that can help you take a look at the 4runner.

That's a pretty good price for a V6 5speed~!
take a look at the 3rd gens buyers guide it will help you out a lot!

Hope that helps

Imo that fully well may OR may not be a good deal based on its condition and issues. That said, at that age and mileage, there is likely going to be a substantial amount of deferred maintenance due such as timing belt, lower ball joints, radiator, etc.

Lucky for you, EVERYthing you need to know can be learned about here:
