If I were you, I would call local junk yards and see what they had available before jumping on anything new, if a plate bumper isn't in the budget that is. Also consider if you do report it to insurance, you would be paying the premium increase, which may not be worth it in the long run.

It actually depends on the amount of the claim. Just went through this with StateFarm. My wife hit out neighbors car, the neighbor called in a claim. I called my agent and he informed me that if the total claim doesn't exceed $1,450, then there is no premium increase for us. So we got the neighbors car fixed and her rental car all for just under $1,000. I was prepared to pay for it out of pocket until my agent told me about the threshold for the premium increase. Since we stayed under that, it didn't make any sense not to claim it.
