Hi team,

Just wanted everyone to be aware... Toyota's "flagship" 'Entune system' has a 'New software update'! I'm told it was just released a week or two ago surnamed: "Entune vers. 5.1". It's said to be working as it should; according to one 'Service assistant mgr' at a Toyota dealership, located in the Bergen county NJ area. The update is FREE for Toyota owners with any Entune navigation system installed in their vehicles! I'll go in next wk to have them install it in my truck and report back, once I've had a chance to evaluate it's operation! "...Keeping my fingers crossed..."

Rgds!

I did the update a few weeks ago. Can confirm that Entune still sucks ass. The voice commands are still comical.

Here's what was told,

The sm told me that you can get the Entune 'apps' updated online through the 'Entune app suite'. To get the "Latest Entune O.S. update" (like the 5.1 OS firmware) you'd need to come in and have it installed from our system. He added: "It would still be free; just that we only have what corporate sends us in terms of flash drives... and all O.S. updates are 'the latest update versions'!" So it seems that there are two very different types of updating... 'app updates', and OS updates; which work to drive your phone, your maps, audio system...

Rgds

The one I got updated the OS (ie my headunit) to 5.1.0 from an email that was similar to the link above.

The iOS app was updated too.

It added Slacker radio, iHeart update, something called Destination Search and supposedly made voice commands better? Things still bums me out, I know it is a lot to ask(expect) from OE but just want phone mirroring, all problems solved.

It seems that a few here have already started using the Entune 5.1 OS update... Can those of you who have installed it describe some of the differences between the 5.1 and the 3.2 versions, or Pros & Cons? I'd install it but what should I (and others) expect from this newer version... Bottom line... "was it worth it?..."

Cheers!

They got rid of Bing, no loss there, I forget what they replaced it with since if im going to search something I just use my phone. The Bluetooth functionality is MUCH improved, in fact knock on wood, not one issue in the month or so since the update. Compared to about one or two issues per weekend. (Only drive it on weekends pretty much)

"The 'Bluetooth' device connectivity fix 'ALONE'... would make the swap worth it!" Thanks for the feedback! Best!

Hi RedMagik,

According to what others have shared here you don't have to, you can use this download link instead:

Cheers

I appreciate you sharing the link to this web page. My question is, how do you actually get to that page on the web? (besides clicking this link) Is it part of the Toyota.com or Entune site? I am having trouble navigating to it aside from clicking on your link. Thanks

Your usage of quotation marks is confusing the heck out of me.

Is saying that he said what he said, like Right Said Fred?

Entune still sucks. I noticed zero changes after the update mainly because the apps they have available suck. Bluetooth is still hit or miss but works most of the time just as it did before.
