I appreciate you sharing the link to this web page. My question is, how do you actually get to that page on the web? (besides clicking this link) Is it part of the Toyota.com or Entune site? I am having trouble navigating to it aside from clicking on your link. Thanks

"I think you need to buy it from ther service department," is what the two Toyota dealers in Mobile told me.

I don't doubt that they told you that... the dealerships are getting mixed msgs from Corporate whom at one time were charging their customers for firmware updates/un-install-reinstalls. Then Toyota USA started taking a different approach and sending emails to entune customers with a link used for FREE downloads, but some dealerships were slow to get the memo, and so continued to conduct business as usual; which may explain some of the confusion. I think at this point we can rest assured that the updates are free... I was at the dealership yesterday for an entune 3.2 'Reboot' because I was having trouble with the hu not recognizing the usb port; msg saying: "Not installed"! The sm advised me that there was a newer version (5.1), and he said that it wouldn't cost me anything because ALL updates were of no cost. He went on to tell me that he didn't have any 'Sticks' to give away; only the few that corporate sent to him to pass out to his staff, but he wouldn't charge me to come in for the download(s)!

Almost everything worked except i had an issue with text mesages showing up. I fixed it by deleting all sms on my phone and repairing.

Have copied the necessary file (swdl.iso) to 2 different USB drives. Neither one is working as I follow the instructions provided by Toyota.

What's baffling me is that I've used both of these for updating my Custom Startup Screen / Custom Shutdown Screen...so I know the 4R can read 'em...

Has anyone else tried to update, but run in to this issue?? Worse case, I can take it to my dealer and have them update it for me.

The info that you've shared here does absolutely corroborate with what I was told by my dealership yesterday. The sm said that there was a newer O.S. update than the 3.2 version. I asked him if he thought that this one was glitch-free or still a work in progress. His reply was that Toyota had been testing it for only a couple of months now, but the customers haven't complained about anything... then added: they just started giving us the 'go-ahead' to install it onto all existing entune system platforms!

Have you tried using a fresh or deleted flash-drive... could be a corrupted file preventing a proper transfer...

Both have been used before to upload screen images, among other things, but I'll format one of 'em and give it another whirl.

I think those of us that have 2014+ need to use other instructions. These appear to be for 2010-2013 model. Those of us complaining that this update didn't work (mine too on both of our 4Runners) all have 2014+ models in our sigs.

I cleared my USB drive first and loaded ONLY the new file (320Mb). When I plugged it in the stereo simply said there were no readable files on the drive. I did just verify the USB is formatted in FAT32 per instructions, and it did not indicate it was a zip file after download. I'll try again a couple times over the weekend, but if it won't work I'll have to try the dealer. Not that I'll miss the upgrade. I only really use the bluetooth app and don't have navigation.

I have a 2015 and the app update was pushed to my iphone and I installed it. Then the next time connected phone to 4R via bluetooth the truck screen informed me there was an update and asked if I wanted to install it. I did and now both phone app and in truck SW are updated.

My apps update via iPhone just fine. The firmware for 2014+ has a different procedure I think.

Same thing here on a '14 Entune system. Very frustrating to say the least.

Yup. Saw that. The screen captures in that link look like the entune in my daily driver 2013 camry. The engine in our two 2014 4runners looks different. Pretty sure 2014+ has a different entune system.

entune 3.2 update is not the same as the headunit update.

entune 3.2+ updates ONLY updates the app on your phone which in turn updates the apps on the head unit (Pandora, iheart radio, etc)

the update that is mention here is the underlying software that all those functions runs on top of which is usually updated by the dealer via a usb drive sent from Toyota.

the best way to tell is if you look in your update history you will have an entry or more.

entune (app) updates will not show up in the update history.

I have a '15 TRDP, and it updated over the air when linked to my iphone automatically.
